Yakuza Like a Dragon has released to great fanfare in the west. Unlike the other entries in the series, the game has switched genres to a full RPG and embraced its rather odd and humorous aspects. This includes strange side quests, character motivations, and new almost outlandish and comical mechanics.

Yakuza Like a Dragon is filled with Easter eggs to other Sega published games. This includes a soundtrack feature at Survive Bar to listen to music from both the game and other Sega titles. One of the biggest highlights is the inclusion of songs from Persona 5. Best yet, music will grant style upgrades, making players more versatile in other parts of the game.

Collecting Cans in Yakuza Like a Dragon

During chapter 3 players will be to undergo the substory A Can-Do Attitude. This will unlock the Can Quest game, which awards Echo Points. These points can used to purchases CDs, though only after one gains a high enough score. Can Quest involves Ichiban collecting cans around an area of the city, though with a limited time and various obstacles. The difficulty can be chosen between Easy, Normal, and Hard to determine the number of enemies, time restrictions, and the number of potential cans (there will be many more in harder difficulty settings).

Ichiban must not only collect cans but needs to return to Kan-san’s Recycling before time runs out. If players are unable to, any found cans will be forfeit. It is best to concentrate on very visible caches of cans, such as trash piles (30 cans) or rival trash collectors (20 cans). Although, it can also be detrimental to waste too much time chasing after a fleeing adversary. Players should be mindful of hazards: obstacles (-5 cans), exploding barrels (-20 cans), enemies (-50 cans), and worst trash trucks (-100 cans). Additionally, the use of Energy Drinks will give Ichiban a speed boost and make him immune to normal obstacles and barrels (but not trucks).

After gaining 10,000 cans the Kan-san’s Recycling shop will open up. They will sell CDs for 15,000 Echo Points each. They have three CDs from Persona 5, for a total of 45,000 points. Each is a single with the songs Life Will Change, Beneath the Mark, and Tokyo Emergency, respectfully. The shop also has the Yakuza series songs I Won’t Forget and Kamurocho Lullaby, both also 15,000 Echo Points each.

Isezaki Slots in Yakuza Like a Dragon

Yakuza Like a Dragon Pachislot

For those that don’t wish to play Can Quest, there is an alternate method to collect some of the CDs. Players can head to PIA on Isezaki road to play Pachislots. However, players without a fully updated game may need to download the Pachislot Machines from their respective console/PC digital storefront. This downloadable content is completely free, though requires significant disk space to install.

Pachislots work similar to classic gambling Slot Machines. Matching three off a kind gives the biggest rewards, but each of the four machines will have various bonuses for different 2 and 3 space combinations. There are also some collective bonuses for consecutive spins. Players can select which of the three spinners stops by pressing the corresponding buttons. This can allow some limited degree of control and strategy, though most of it will come down to luck. Instead of money, Pachislots will reward tokens. 150 of such tokens can be used to purchase CDs, including some of the Persona 5 ones. Additional CDs include the soundtracks from the Pachislot games, including Million Gods: Return of the Gods, Beast King Slot Series, Souten-No-Ken Ponyou, and Another God Hades.

Although these methods are for tracking down Persona related CDs, many other side activities include other musical CDs. By exploring other side quests players will be able to access tracks from Sega classics like Phantasy Star Online 2, Valkyria Chronicles, NiGHTS, Daytona USA, and more.
