Action fans are still reeling from the big reveals of The Fate of The Furious trailer, but that's only one of the two big blockbuster vehicles for Vin Diesel arriving in 2017 (not counting his voice role as Baby Groot in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2). The other, xXx: The Return of Xander Cage, brings the Hollywood star back for a revival of his previously-stalled xXx franchise, featuring Diesel as extreme sports enthusiast-turned spy Xander Cage.

A new trailer has now arrived for Return of Xander Cage, featuring a new song from it's big soundtrack. Targeted for international audiences, the new trailer is effectively an advertisement for the film's main tie-in song: a track by The Americanos (featuring Ty Dolla $ign, Lil Yachty, Nicky Jams and French Montana) titled "In My Foreign". Notably, Nicky Jams appears in the film and features prominently in the advertisement; one that focuses on a new scene where Diesel's Xander Cage ingratiates himself to an arms dealer.

In the third xXx film, Cage returns from his presumed (offscreen) death to lead a team of similarly-unconventional agents against an all-star terrorist squad that is seeking to disrupt the global order with a high-tech security breach - though all may not be as it seems. Donnie Yen, Deepika Padukone, Tony Jaa, Nina Dobrev, Ruby Rose and Samuel L. Jackson also star in the movie, from director D.J. Caruso.

Released in 2002, the original xXx (pronounced "Triple-X") cast Diesel as an extreme athlete and internet video star conscripted by a shadowy government agency to become a spy and infiltrate an anarchist terror-cell based on their shared lifestyle interests. Intended as a star-vehicle and franchise for the then-rising star shortly after his breakout role in The Fast & The Furious, the film was a box office success but earned mixed reviews and Diesel ultimately passed on further sequels to pursue the Riddick franchise - before ultimately returning to the Fast films. A xXx sequel, with Ice Cube replacing Diesel's character as the lead, was released in theaters to a poor reception, some years later.

The third xXx film is being framed as an attempt to reinvent the brand in the mold of the Fast & Furious series, with Xander Cage being reworked from a solo antihero to the leader of a diverse team, aimed at appealing to a largely overseas international audience. It is also the first film to have been produced by formerly prolific Revolution Studios, which has been largely dormant since the release of The Water Horse: Legend of The Deep way back in 2007.
