Popular Twitch streamer Felix “xQc” Lengyel was banned from Twitch while he was streaming the Olympics. xQc was hit with what appears to be a DMCA violation during his most recent stream in a surprising ban that saw one of Twitch’s most beloved streamers barred from the platform. This isn’t xQc’s first time being banned either. Felix Lengyel - who is known for his engaging streams while playing games like GTA V: Online and Overwatch – has been banned from Twitch four times throughout his career. He has also seen bans across multiple platforms, including Twitter and the GTA Online RP NoPixel server.

xQc is one of the biggest streamers on Twitch, with six million followers and average viewership in the ten-thousands. Despite his fame, xQc has had many run-ins with Twitch law. The streamer was hit with his first ban in March 2020 when he was barred from the platform for three days. A few months later, xQc was hit with a single-day ban, though his biggest offense wasn’t until November 2020. After stream sniping at GlitchCon, xQc was banned from Twitch for seven days and was barred from Twitch Rival events for six months. While fans missed the streamer, few could argue with the punishment was undeserved. Now, xQc has gotten himself in trouble again.

As reported by Dexerto, xQc was temporarily banned from the streaming platform after he was struck with an apparent DMCA violation. Lengyel tweeted about the mishap, explaining in all caps that “I got my channel live-DMCA’d.” The popular streamer was caught streaming a judo match from the Olympics, which apparently led to the ban. “I took necessary precautions and thought it would be fine,” xQc explained on Twitter. “Really didn’t expect it but I could’ve easily avoided this.” The streamer then apologized to his fans and explained that he will take better precautions to prevent this from happening in the future. The streamer was subsequently unbanned after only 4 hours and 55 minutes.

While xQc’s fans are upset that he was temporarily suspended from Twitch, it’s no surprise that the streamer was banned for his actions. Viewers are only supposed to watch the Olympics with sanctioned outlets, such as on live TV via NBC.

Viewers are also able to watch the Olympics on Twitch, but streamers aren’t supposed to stream it themselves. With live-tracking technology finding those illegally streaming Olympic content, it’s no wonder xQc was caught. While xQc wasn't banned from the platform for very long, fans hope they don't have to face another unexpected absence. His engaging content is always missed so hopefully, xQc learned his lesson for next time.
