Hugh Jackman's portrayal of Wolverine was incredible, as the actor proved in numerous films he was the perfect choice to play the X-Men hero in live-action. But, what does the comic book version of Wolverine think about Jackman? It turns out he's a big fan.

When he was first cast in the role, at first glance, Jackman might have not seemed like the ideal person to play Wolverine. After all, Jackman is more than six-feet tall, while Wolverine in the comics barely passes five feet. But, Jackman managed to make the role completely his own, starring in multiple franchises and solo films for 18 years. His time as Wolverine ended with a perfect sendoff in Logan. Jackman was so good as Logan, that even Wolverine would approve in the comics.

In Uncanny X-Men #450 by Chris Claremont, Mark Farmer, Frank D'Armata, and VC's Rus Wooton, Wolverine and Storm are having a night out to themselves. The pair decides to put on their swankiest formal wear and see a Broadway show. When standing outside a theater, Logan tells Storm "that Jackman fella kind'a reminds me o' me." Storm asks Wolverine if he can dance and sing, to which Logan playfully responds, "I'm full of surprises."

Wolverine Broadway Hugh Jackman

Uncanny X-Men #450 came out in 2004, so X2 would have been Wolverine's most recent appearance in the films. While it's extremely unlikely that Jackman would be playing Wolverine in the X-Men films on Earth-616, the talented actor did star in a production of The Boy From Oz between 2003 and 2004, so while the Broadway show is never named in the comic, it's possible they saw a version of that show. The musical is heavy on song and dance - which is hinted at by Storm's question.

Can Wolverine actually sing and dance? Who knows, it could be one of his hidden talents. Regardless, it seems that Logan would be really thrilled if he ever learned that he was portrayed by Hugh Jackman in the X-Men franchise. Clearly, he's a big fan - even going so far to say the actor reminds him of himself. It's a great meta-joke by Claremont, as the comic book version of Wolverine and Hugh Jackman are actually pretty different, at least in size, but Logan still thinks the two are similar. It turns out Wolverine would be very pleased with his superhero casting. Hugh Jackman was born to play Wolverine.
