With X-Terminators set to release on July 6th, fans are excited to see the often-sidelined Jubilee back in action in their local comic shops. With her baby off having his own adventures in Excalibur, it's about time for the character to get back to her roots of fighting the worst the Marvel universe has to offer.

Yet, while most fans are beyond ready to see more comics featuring Jubilee, others are more than happy to spend time arguing about the character on Reddit instead. Given there has been a considerable consensus about Jubilee over the years, that means that there have certainly been some commenters going against the grain with some unpopular opinions about Jubilee.

Jubilee Is Useful

Jubilee is often considered one of the weaker X-Men, but that isn't always fair. "One of the recurring plot elements is how her power seems somewhat silly and lame but can be cranked up quite a bit," says thehypotheticalnerd on Reddit. "She's pretty resourceful and while she's rarely a heavy hitter, she does well for herself."

It is true that, outside of her powers, she's incredibly good at keeping the team together. After all, she managed to hang with Wolverine and his assorted rogues gallery for years. If she couldn't handle herself in a fight, or outside of it, she never would have made it.

Should Be Omega-Level

Given that Jubilee isn't always known for her awesome displays of power, there haven't been many fans crying out for Jubilee to be classified as an Omega-level mutant. But, as Redditor APicketFence argues, "She can affect matter at a subatomic level. I believe it makes her an omega level mutant."

It is true that Jubilee could, theoretically, be a powerful hero. However, when she refuses to use her abilities to their maximum extent, it's hard to really know. Until she starts showing off feats that befit Magneto or Proteus, fans will just have to wait and see.

Live-Action Jubilee Is Awful

Given Jubilee's prominent role in the animated series, fans expected to see an excitable version of the character in the movies. Yet, when she seemed to be nothing more than a background character occasionally showing up in a scene, some fans were hesitant. "I'm disappointed by Jubilee in all live-action movies," says ManaSpellFae on Reddit.

It's a fair critique. After all, while the best X-Men movies focused on their ensemble casts, there are just too many characters to really portray them all properly. Unfortunately, Jubilee, like Kitty Pryde and Scott Summers, got the short end of the live-action stick.

No One Likes Her

Despite being one of the more popular characters in the franchise, thanks to her appearances in the 90s X-Men, some fans still haven't accepted the character's prominence. "'Wow! The character every X-Men fan has been screaming for' - said no one ever," Redditor brothwell0403 describes.

Still, Jubilee is a household name. Even people who aren't fans of the X-Men know who she is. It isn't fair to say that no one asks for Jubilee, especially since she likely wouldn't be appearing in comics if that were truly the case.

Needs A Wolverine's Angels Comic

In the comics, Jubilee is often known as one of Wolverine's many teenage sidekicks. While that most often means Jubilee occasionally appears in some of Wolverine's best comics, one fan wants more. "They should make a comic that's basically Wolverine's Angels. It's Kitty Pryde, Jubilee, and Armor basically following in the wake and destruction that is Wolverine," SnapHook says on Reddit.

A book like that would probably be a lot of fun, but probably isn't possible, given Jubilee's dedication to her adoptive son Shogo. If she was busy hunting down Wolverine, she wouldn't be able to look after Shogo, which — in the mutant world — could only mean bad things for one of the few humans on Krakoa.

The Powers Don't Make The Character

There's a very common joke among X-Men fans that Jubilee is one of the least powerful mutant heroes. After all, she's mostly known for making sparkles and fireworks. But, even acknowledging her inability to pack a punch in a fight, there are some fans that argue that it doesn't really matter.

"The key argument this gives is that her powers aren't that strong so that somehow means she's a bad character. I don't understand that. There's plenty of characters in films I like who don't have amazing superpowers," says Redditor MatttheM. It's a good point. The Black Widow, Hawkeye, and Shang-Chi all have relatively limited powers, and they manage to carry shows and movies by themselves, so why not Jubilee?

The Vampire Era Was Weak

After the mutant decimation, Jubilee was utterly powerless and struggling to cope with having her mutant identity stripped from her. That's why, when she was turned into a vampire, many fans found it a refreshing change. Some, however, found it insulting.

"As a vampire, she was underpowered, despite vampires having great abilities," says Reddit user SoupEpicTrek. Considering that Jubilee has always been somewhat underpowered, the vampire era was still a great change for her. After all, it introduced a new element to the character, as she tried to cope with raising her son, even as she had to avoid the sunlight he was often running into.

Only Hellcat Appreciated Vampire Jubilee

Marvel Comics Hellcat

Another iconic hero that hasn't appeared in the MCU, Hellcat recently had a solo book that happened to feature Jubilee heavily. While it is often underrated, some fans view the book as an essential Jubilee series. Jubilee "Patsy Walker AKA Hellcat! was probably the only comic to realize the comedic potential of Vampire Jubilee," says BillybobThistleton on Reddit.

Showcasing Jubilee as a vampire who had fully come to terms with her identity, it often depicted her as turning into a cloud of smoke (with pink sunglasses) to attack enemies. It also showcased her threatening them with conversion, before realizing she couldn't do that anyway. So, while it was incredibly funny, it was also one of the few books to actually explore the reality of turning a mutant character into a brightly-dressed Dracula.

Shogo Is A Pain

While Jubilee has often been viewed as the kid sister of the X-Men, her recent adoption of Shogo has changed that perception. Now a mother, she had more responsibilities on her shoulders. That's why, when she was left out of Knights of X, despite Shogo's inclusion, fans were confused. "I don’t really like her being sidelined for Shogo and his dragon adventure," says Redditor TheBigDuo1.

Yet, Jubilee wasn't actually sidelined. X-Terminators is set to feature Jubilee in a starring role. The only issue is that the book is premiering long after Knights of X started. So, while it seems like she was left out of comics in favor of Shogo, that isn't actually the case.

Jubilee Should Retire

While no comic fan wants to see their favorite left out of the books, Redditor darkmythology argues that it would be good for Jubilee. "The story arc of 'barely teen mutant joins the X-Men, plays superhero with a number of different teams, becomes a vampire, adopts a kid, and then gets better and retires to non-combat duties' would be a really nice change compared to the usual endings for mutants."

Considering that most mutants stay in the cause forever, it would certainly be a change. A nice one, however, is something to be debated. After all, it would mean that Jubilee couldn't appear in comics anymore, which would be a huge disappointment to fans of the character.
