Warning! Spoilers for Marvel Voices: Pride #1 by Marvel Comics

Marvel Comics will debut a brand new X-Men mutant hero, Escapade, as the trans character will make their first appearance in the upcoming Marvel Voices: Pride Anthology. The publisher revealed that Escapade would join her fellow LGBTQIA+ heroes in the upcoming comic, in a story written by Charlie Jane Anders, with art from Ro Stein and Ted Brandt, and colors by Tamra Bonvillain.

Escapade is a new character to the world of the X-Men and Krakoa, as Marvel Comics revealed details about the hero's incredible powers and backstory. Escapade, whose real name is Shela Sexton, is a trans mutant who has the ability to swap physical locations with whoever she'd like but also, and perhaps more impressively, can trade status, skills, powers, and situations as well. Her powers - which are somewhat a spin on Rogue's power-stealing - last only for a few hours, and she needs to be close to whoever she wants to swap with, but, those abilities surely will come in handy when confronted by powerful heroes or villains.

Escapade will be joined by her partner and best friend, Morgan Red, equipped with stolen tools and devices. The trans mutant doesn't have a sparkly clean background, as Escape and Morgan have traveled across the Marvel Universe, stealing from criminal organizations. However, they'll come face-to-face with the X-Men's Emma Frost and Destiny, which sets in motion the hero's arrival to Krakoa. Escapade will make her official Marvel Comics debut in the upcoming Marvel Voices: Pride #1, in her own story from Charlie Jane Anders, Ro Stein, Ted Brandt, and Tamra Bonvillain. Check out preview art showcasing Escapade's costume below.

Anders said in a press release that she was incredibly excited to bring a brand-new hero to the world of Marvel and the X-Men. She added that she hopes Escapade and Morgan Red inspire both trans and non-binary people around the world to believe "they, too, can fight for justice with the power of creativity and chosen family."

Escapade will be a welcome addition to the world of the X-Men, as her story and powers make us immediately intrigued with how she will be used in Marvel Comics stories going forward. Readers can see the new trans hero, Escapade, meet the X-Men in Marvel Voices: Pride #1 by Marvel Comics, which arrives in comic book stores on June 22.
