Ororo Monroe a.k.a. the X-Woman Storm is not someone who takes to being threatened lightly. Whether it's a mutant enemy, and Avenger, or even an entire stronghold of government agents... and she doesn't need backup to end the threat, either.

As an iconic member of the mutant superheroes The X-Men, Storm has had countless experiences to test and strengthen her abilities to manipulate and control the weather. This makes her a formidable ally to some and dangerous mutant enemy to others, and the names on either list can apparently change on a whim. But as she proved when the forces of SHIELD got too close to her home, her fury is fast.

In Uncanny X-Men #21 (2013) by writer Brian Michael Bendis and artist Chris Bachalo, the already divided X-Men are dealing with two immediate problems. Former X-Men leader and fugitive Cyclops a.k.a. Scott Summers shows up at the Jean Grey School of Higher Learning to confront Beast, but upon arriving, his unstable powers go out of control. The accident is soon revealed to be just one part of a larger plan, as the minute they get shut down, Ilyana Rasputin a.k.a Magik's powers backfire, finally grabbing the attention of Marvel's superhuman surveillance.

Storm X-Men Shield Helicarrier

As Director Maria Hill arrives with a battalion of SHIELD agents, the X-Men and SHIELD argue about who's responsibility it is to get to the bottom of a series of mysterious events that continue to strain the frigid relationship between mutants and the world, especially their governments. While the senior X-Men scramble to protect their wounded and students, Headmistress Storm is instructed to take the battle head on. Upward she flies and using her powers, she manages to attack the Helicarrier unassisted -- and inflict some serious damage as the battle rages on.

Since her appearance in the Giant Sized X-Men Annual #1 (1975), Storm has been a member of numerous X-Men teams as well as a member of the Fantastic Four and Avengers. She has been worshipped as a goddess and respected as a Queen as well as mutant leader.  She has stood her ground against an extraordinary range of enemies ranging from human to cosmic, even supernatural and extra-dimensional. She is a member of a species that is constantly under attack, suspicion and persecution. So it's no surprise that she could take down a SHIELD helicarrier, a feat that few super-powered individuals could boast. The question to ask is: why did SHIELD only bring one?
