X-Men's Storm takes on Mera in an incredible piece of Marvel Comics vs DC Comics crossover art from Stephen Byrne (Wonder Twins). But, who would win between the Queen of Atlantis and the former Queen of Wakanda? In the illustration, Ororo Munroe has little problem dispatching the Atlantean.

Marvel and DC Comics have had crossover events before, with the two most famous examples being the Marvel vs DC superhero extravaganza of the mid-90s, and the heroes battling (shockingly in canon) in the Avengers/JLA showdown from 2003. Byrne, who's worked on the recent Wonder Twins series as well as DC's original young adult graphic novel Mera: Tidebreaker has been doing his own Marvel/DC Comics crossover art. He's illustrated some epic pieces including Wonder Woman grabbing Mjolnir from Thor and becoming worthy, Batman and Wolverine fighting atop the Batmobile, Harley Quinn and Deadpool's fourth-wall-breaking battle, the Justice League and Avengers taking on each other, and most recently, the stars of the Spider-Verse taking on the Bat-Family. Bryne has brought his signature style to these mini-battles with his latest piece being a battle between Queens.

On his Twitter account, Byrne showcased a new illustration simply titled 'Queens.' On the page, Storm and Mera are battling above the sea. The powerful weather-controlling mutant sends the Queen of Atlantis flying into the water. Unimpressed, Mera emerges surrounded by water and goes after the mutant. Storm doesn't hesitate in striking Mera down with a bolt of lightning, zapping the Atlantean and sending her to the ground. The panel ends with a victorious Storm floating away as Mera lays defeated. It's how you'd imagine an actual battle would go between the pair. Mera's water forming abilities are no match for Storm's powers to control the weather. No matter what Mera could throw at her opponent, she was always disadvantaged by the fact Storm could counter her fairly easily.

Storm vs Mera

Both heroes have been Queens, but this was an unfair fight. Storm is clearly a more powerful character. That's not to take away anything from Mera, who packs her own punch most of the time. But against a weather-controlling mutant, she was never going to win - unless she had some help. In this case, Mera tried best but was dealt with in quick fashion by Storm. It's another exceptional piece by Byrne. You can check out more of Byrne's art on his Twitter and Instagram pages.
