This article contains spoilers for Sins of Sinister #1.The X-Men's Resurrection Protocols have been compromised, and now Storm is the only one who can save the world from the mutant race. Ororo Munroe is one of the most powerful mutants on the planet, an Omega-level mutant whose powers have no definable upper limit. She's also become one of the most important figures in mutant history, officially Regent of the Solar System and a crucial member of the ruling council of mutants on Arakko, the mutant planet. Storm struggled to gain the trust of the Arakki, and was forced to destroy her genetic records to do so - meaning she can no longer be resurrected.

Ironically, this now means Storm has become Earth's last defense against Mr. Sinister. The X-Men's Resurrection Protocols have been compromised, with Mr. Sinister inserting his own DNA into any mutants who are resurrected. Worse still, in Sins of Sinister #1 by Kieron Gillen and Lucas Werneck, Sinister extends the Resurrection Protocols across the globe - meaning he's effectively conquered the entire planet. Storm is the only mutant who can resist Mr. Sinister, simply because she's no longer subject to the Resurrection Protocols. Storm confronts the X-Men, learning the truth, but successfully escapes to lead a resistance.

How Will Storm Defeat Mr. Sinister?

Storm on the X-Men quiet council

Mr. Sinister rightly considers Storm a threat, but he has no idea just how dangerous she really is. Sins of Sinister #1 sees Storm forge an alliance with Mystique and the precognitive mutant Destiny, a formidable pair who are working together to defeat Mr. Sinister. Destiny sensed Mr. Sinister's plans, and she's working to stop them - while also ensuring he doesn't have access to his clones of Moira MacTaggert. These allow Mr. Sinister to reboot the timeline should he believe he's about to be defeated, and Destiny doesn't want him to have such an effective escape strategy.

Storm, meanwhile, heads to Arakko to lead the resistance - and it's not long before Mr. Sinister's agents pursue her there, going so far as to destroy the planet. This, of course, must have been foreseen by Destiny; indeed, it's quite likely Storm's public opposition to Mr. Sinister is a distraction, preventing Mr. Sinister from realizing his stock of clones is at risk. Arakko may be destroyed, but all signs suggest Storm has escaped - presumably so she can play her next part in the plan. Storm is a natural born leader, so she should be able to rally her allies against Mr. Sinister quite effectively.

The X-Men have fallen, but one last member remains to stand against Mr. Sinister's evil. This isn't the first time Storm has stood against her friends, and it likely won't be the last. But the stakes are higher than ever before, because Mr. Sinister seeks to transform himself into a god. Only the X-Men's Storm can stop him.
