Warning! Potential spoilers for X-Men by Marvel Comics
Marvel Comics has once again opened fan voting to decide the newest member of the X-Men, and immediately, there have been some great memes and cases pled for the mutants in the competition. With the vote in full swing, social media has been filled with people using the #xmenvote hashtag to help their favorite mutants end up on the superteam and edge out the rest.
In 2021, Marvel Comics decided to put a membership slot on the main X-Men team in the hands of the reader, holding a fan vote to determine which underrated mutant would get a big promotion. Polaris won the competition in the inaugural vote and is featured in Gerry Duggan and Pepe Larraz's current X-Men run. Now, Marvel Comics is holding its second annual #xmenvote competition, which set X-Twitter ablaze with fans trying to boost the chances their favorite hero ends up on the X-Men.
Marvel Comics unveiled its sleight of mutants challenging for a spot on the X-Men team. Among the candidates are Firestar, Penance, Armor, Bling!, Gentle, Surge, Gorgon, Siryn, Micromax, and Avalanche. The diverse group of mutants chosen means there's been plenty of online chatter and memes in favor or against specific mutants joining the X-Men. Here are some of our favorites. First up, some Firestar slander (there was a lot of that), as the meme calls her a traitor to her people, while propping up Pennace as a hero.
Another anti-Firestar meme makes voters remember she starred in the canceled New Warriors run, which never saw the light of day.

Armor, the only mutant who appeared in both fan votes, got some love from fans in competition.
However, some are prepared for Armor to get the distinction of losing the fan vote twice.

Perhaps, the most hilarious meme was Micromax celebrating getting a medal only to last among voting.
X-Men fans are very passionate about who they'd like to join the main mutant team. As of right now, it seems like Penance and Firestar are going to be ranked near the top - which is kind of poetic given how they've been pitted against each other thus far in the #xmenfanvote memes. Voting for the newest X-Men member is open now on Marvel.com, running from January 10 to 13.
