The world of the X-Men has completely changed in Marvel Comics, which means a new era... and New Mutants. But to give the classic team their own mission apart from the mutants of planet Earth, their first arc is sending them into space. Thankfully, they won't have to go alone.

The early details of the team and their exact orders are being kept intentionally vague before the debut issue arrives on November 6th. But as Cyclops leads the core X-Men team, and the new X-Force is run by Wolverine and Beast, it appears the New Mutants have been placed into the care of Cyclops's own father. And from the first official preview, it seems that combination is going about as well as anyone who knows the Starjammers would expect.

The team is, according to the preview of the first issue, "not that new. They're young, sure, but they've been around the block a few times. Then came Krakoa--and since the whole world turned upside down, everything looks different for the New Mutants." So with that, feast your eyes on the first official preview pages of the next wave of New Mutants, leaving Earth's problems behind for those of the Starjammers. Pray for Corsair.

As mentioned above, this classic line-up of New Mutants won't be the only mutants or heroes set to appear (especially not with Jonathan Hickman, architect of the X-Men reboot co-writing). It's safe to assume that with a new haven for mutants established on Earth, there are a few mutants adrift in space who might answer the call to come home. But will this adventure into Shi'ar space go that smoothly? Almost certainly not. But it will still be interesting to watch as the New Mutants find a place for themselves in the new mutant status quo--while also showing how the actions of mutants on Earth could have far, far reaching implications for the Marvel Universe.
