The younger Cable is already making a stir on Krakoa. From besting Wolverine in combat to dating several of his teammates at once, Cable seems to be enjoying life to its fullest. He even lays claim to a powerful intergalactic sword at the end of the first issue. However, Cable's winning streak is about to get more complicated. Not only are the Galadorians coming to reclaim their lost "light", but Cable is also being hunted - by himself (or rather, his future, more Josh Brolin-like counterpart).

Nathan Summers aka Cable is the son of Cyclops and Madelyne Pryor (a clone of Jean Grey who later became the Goblin Queen). The character first appeared as an infant in The Uncanny X-Men #201 in January 1986, but it wouldn't be until The New Mutants #87 in March 1990 that the character appeared in his most recognizable form. Far older than his parents, Cable appeared a grizzled time-traveling freedom fighter from a dystopian future. The character would go on to lead both the New Mutants as well as X-Force, becoming a popular staple of the X-Men over the years.

Cable would undergo an even more dramatic change during the Extermination storyline, in which the older Cable is gunned down and murdered by a new, younger counterpart. This new Cable comes from a different timeline after resurrecting his father Cyclops. Since then, "Kid Cable" has replaced his older version on Krakoa - but it seems like another dust-up with his older self might be in the cards after all.

While everything seems to be coming up Cable - the question is - which Cable? For now, the younger Nathan Summers seems to be the cool kid on campus, or rather, Krakoa. Still, It's very possible his actions will have consequences, given that the Gladadorians are apparently coming to retrieve their property. This doesn't even take into account what will happen where - or if - the older Cable catches up with his younger counterpart.

Ultimately, it doesn't seem like the younger Cable is going anywhere. In addition to starring in his own solo series, he's also slated to restart his team-up with Deadpool soon, as well as have a role in the upcoming X of Swords storyline. However, the younger Cable might be his own worst enemy even without the arrival of an angrier, older counterpart. After all, "Kid Cable" has all the power and weaponry of his future self but none of the experience. It's already a recipe for disaster, especially considering Krakoa's increasingly tribalistic society. Kid Cable's older counterpart might be able to knock some sense into his past self - or failing that, Cable might have to learn the hard way that actions have consequences.

Cable #1 by Gerry Dungan and Phil Noto is on sale now.
