Throughout the decades the X-Men have been known, and often mocked, for having extremely "hot" members, but in Marvel Comics newest era for mutants they have officially established that the Krakoans X-Treme hotness is canon. Long established mutant icons such as Jean Grey, Storm, Cyclops, and Colossus have always been shown to have society's ideal bodies, but on the island of Krakoa, mutants who have not been seen as sexy are suddenly able to be reborn with their idealized looks. While this may not have fit in with Professor X's past mission to integrate mutants and humans, it is just another way for the new Krakoan philosophy to advocate for the continued separation of the two races.

With the creation of Krakoa's new Resurrection Protocols mutants are now effectively immortal, but t resurrection doesn't just revive mutants to the point at which they died. With the power of the Five and Xavier's Cerebro technology, mutants are now able to be resurrected at whatever age they want, and they are even able to make cosmetic changes to their genes. This has led to the general attractiveness of the mutant nation skyrocketing, but also has the unfortunate side effect of making Krakoa's more visibly different mutants look even more "other."

One of the more hilarious examples of an X-Men leaning into the new Resurrection Protocols to become the next "Michelangelo's David" is Quentin Quire's continuous requests for cosmetic changes. Quentin is dying a lot in his new role on X-Force, and every time he is resurrected he puts in a request to the Five, as seen below, asking for changes such as his biological hair color to be pink, eliminating hair follicles in annoying areas, and seemingly asking for his... feet...to be larger for his new girlfriend Phoebe Cuckoo. But not every mutant is asking for such shallow resurrection requests, with some being revived much younger and healthier, allowing them to live life more fully.

Quentin Quire Resurrection Protocols

A powerful example of this de-aging is shown in Marvel's Voices: Pride #1 "Man of His Dreams" - illustrated by Luciano Vecchio and Claudia Aguirre with writing by Steve Orlando - where it is revealed that a seemingly unknown mutant named Somnus died of old age years ago before ever getting to come out as gay. Daken retrieves his body and Somnus is resurrected as his younger self, allowing him to live a life as an out-and-proud gay man, who also happens to be incredibly hot. Additionally, the recent revival of Mystique's long-time love interest Destiny, who has traditionally been shown to be older, led to her being resurrected as a true bombshell.

The fact that the X-Men's status as some of the hottest superheroes in the Marvel Multiverse has now been officially made canon is an intriguing move for Krakoa, as they are already setting themselves up as being different, and better, than the human race. While attractiveness is of course subjective, it is hard to argue that when mutants are reborn on Krakoa, they certainly fit in with society's idea of what "hot" is. Now that the X-Men can be reborn in fresh bodies, perhaps it is time to consider that Krakoa has not only beaten death itself, but also the very human process of aging.
