Marvel's most iconic aristocratic villain-turned-hero Emma Frost, leader of the X-Men and former White Queen of the Hellfire Club, looks absolutely flawless in a new variant cover for Immoral X-Men #1 by Marco Turini, an homage to the icon's very first appearance.Emma Frost is one of Marvel's oldest and most infamous villains, debuting in Chris Claremont and John Byrne's 1980 Uncanny X-Men #129 as the powerful telepathic White Queen of the Hellfire Club alongside Sebastian Shaw, the Black King.

While Frost has not been called "White Queen" as a moniker for many years now, she still reigns supreme as a sultry and strategic leader of Krakoa, and Marco Turini's gorgeous variant cover honoring Emma's original costume is the perfect homage for Emma once again becoming a villain in the pages of Sins of Sinister.

Uncanny X-Men #129 Emma Frost as White Queen

Emma Frost's first appearance in Uncanny X-Men established her as a fierce new enemy of the X-Men, introduced in the same story as the beloved Kitty Pryde who Emma attempted to manipulate into joining her Massachuset's Academy school, to use the young mutant for nefarious purposes. Slowly over the years it has been revealed that Emma Frost abandoned her power-hungry family and ended up as a dancer at the main headquarters of the Hellfire Club, where she used her impressive telepathy to give men exactly what they wanted to see without needing to actually perform. Eventually Sebastian Shaw recognized her potential for manipulation and villainy and brought her higher up the ladder - horrifically murdering two other female "contenders" right in front of Emma - and she remained a Hellfire villain for years, attacking the X-Men on many occasions and also being partially responsible for Mastermind's terrible manipulation of Jean Grey into the Dark Phoenix. Since then, Frost has gone through a rather miraculous transformation, becoming one of the world's greatest forces of good while still maintaining her domineering personality and epic fashion sense.

Emma Frost's turn from villainy mainly happened because of her intense love of teaching mutant children, and it was after the terrible murder of her Hellions students that Emma became the co-teacher alongside Banshee of Generation X. Afterwards Emma became headmistresses of the Xavier Academy in New X-Men where she fell madly in love with Scott Summers - who was still romantically involved with the resurrected Jean Grey - which led to endless drama and strife. Turini's art is absolutely stunning, and incredibly sexy, highlighting Emma's impressive physique while she wears her classic all white outfit with a fur lined cape, incredibly cinched corset, small briefs, and domineering gloves. Emma Frost has always used her sexuality, beauty, and clothing as a suit of armor as well as a weapon, famously exclaiming in 1989's Classic X-Men #34, "My clothes are my battle armor. I dress to go to war!" although there have been countless critiques about Marvel's emphasis on Emma's sexuality and physical presentation. Regardless, Turini's gorgeous art is the perfect representation of how Emma's beauty and sultry attitude was a highlight of her classic design, later developed to include her nuanced mutant abilities, strategic mind, and shockingly caring heart.

Since the Krakoan Era Emma has become an even bigger hero, operating the powerful Hellfire Trading Company, taking part in the Quiet Council's most important decisions, and planning and hosting each year's impressive Hellfire Gala. However, with X-Men's Sins of Sinister turning Emma and other Council leaders into variants of Mister Sinister, Emma Frost is once again donning her classic White Queen costume, transforming Marco Turini's variant cover of Emma's most iconic look from an homage into foreshadowing.
