Over the years, the X-Men have faced few villains as gruesome as Mojo, but now a new cosplay has perfectly captured the ruler of Mojoworld in all his grotesque and impossible glory.
Because of Mojo's horrifying and non-human appearance there have not been many attempts to depict him through cosplay. However, the photographer and podcaster, Pat Loika, has done just that. Featuring the cosplay on his Instagram account, @patloika, he presents an amazing depiction of the sorceress Spiral and her unearthly master, Mojo. The effects are done through model creation and photographic manipulation, but the results are jaw dropping.
This ambitious X-Men cosplay was accomplished with the help of several collaborators. First and foremost, @graciethecosplaylass shows off her amazing costume and looks for Spiral. Complete with four additional arms and an impressive array of weaponry, her presence is a true compliment to her grotesque master. Mojo was created by @scotts_monster_shop and stands at an impressive height with magnificent detailing. Though the ruler of Mojoworld is not a real person, the crafted care of the model is enough to impress even the most skeptical of fans. Finally, Loika credits inspiration for the cosplay creation to the artist @tomraneyart.
This Cosplay Is Worthy Of A Mojo-Produced TV Show
Mojo is part of a race known as the Spineless Ones, a race of cybernetic beings that were slowly driven insane by television broadcasts from the neighboring dimension of Earth-616. As such, the power of Mojoworld is based upon the television industry and Mojo has ascended to the top with hyper-violent and sensational broadcasts featuring combatants forced to fight and die all for the entertainment of his viewers. Over the years he has had a special affinity for mutantkind in general and the X-Men specifically. One more than one occasions he has captured the students of Professor Xavier and forced them to compete in his Mojoworld broadcasts.
He is helped in this by slaves, such as the multi-armed Spiral, who was once a stunt woman and rebel leader named Rita Wayword, until Mojo manipulated and transformed her into a loyal servant. Mojo is a cruel and terrifying showman and a manipulator at heart, once even coercing Rachel Summers into working for him. He is also a master an genetic manipulation and creation, as apparent by the baby versions of the X-Men he created. Regardless, Mojo is a villain who may look silly, but is anything but.
His cybernetic legs and impossible appearance have also been what has stopped many cosplayers from tackling his form in any serious attempt. Yet, now Pat Loika and his cosplay collaborators have given fans a true glimpse into the horror of what Mojo would look like if the X-Men villain finally stepped out of the TV screen and into our real world.
