Xiaomi has scheduled a product launch event for September 15, and even though the company is tight-lipped about the devices set to debut, leaks suggest it will be headlined by the Mi 11T series of phones. For folks who are familiar with Xiaomi’s recent product launches, the ‘T’ flagships are known to be a confusing mess as they’ve been rebranded Redmi K-series phones in the past, and have also been launched as original products in certain markets.

Bewildering names aside, the phones have always been a terrific value for money, with the latest example being the Mi 10T series. Even though Xiaomi’s ‘T’ lineup is placed below the flagship numbered series which includes the likes of Mi 11, it still comes equipped with top-end hardware at a lower price point. The key differences, however, are a less flashy design and a focus on delivering powerful innards without gimmicks to keep the price in check.

It now appears that Xiaomi is gearing up for its next ‘no non-sense’ flagship that will be unveiled at an event on September 15. The company has not dropped any teasers so far. However, multiple insiders with fairly solid track records have shared that the Mi 11T and its Pro sibling will be launched next month. Mi 11T series phones have already received regulatory certification in multiple Asian markets and an alleged Mi 11T model also got the US FCC nod last month, indicating that an official launch is on the horizon. An interesting thing to note here is that the certification documents mention the name Xiaomi 11T instead of Mi 11T. This isn’t surprising, or a mistake either, as the company recently confirmed that it is dropping the ‘Mi’ branding in favor of the ‘Xiaomi’ naming scheme for products. This new naming philosophy can already be seen on the MIX 4 flagship that was revealed earlier this month rocking an under-display camera.

Xiaomi Phone Launch Event For September 15

The Mi 11T will reportedly draw power from MediaTek’s top-of-the-line Dimensity 1200 SoC with 5G support in tow. For those unaware, it is the same chipset that ticks at the heart of the OnePlus Nord 2 that was launched just a few weeks ago. It is said to feature a screen with a 120Hz refresh rate, but instead of going for an AMOLED panel, the Xiaomi offering will rely on an LCD display. The phone is also said to come armed with a triple camera array at the back that will include a 64-megapixel main snapper, an 8-megapixel shooter for wide-angle photography, and a telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom.

Talking about the Mi 11T Pro, it will reportedly pack the more powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC. Another upgrade over the vanilla Mi 11T is that the Pro model goes for an OLED panel with the same 120Hz refresh rate. And if its predecessor is anything to go by, adaptive refresh rate technology for automatically adjusting the screen refresh rate will be a part of the package as well. The whole system will derive juice from a 5,000mAh battery that will support an impressive 120W fast charging. However, it is unclear if wireless charging will be on the table as well.
