The Xbox title Space Engineers is getting all kinds of new features such as mods and cross-play with PC. The space simulator has upped the ante and scale by increasing the potential for its very own engineers. Space Engineers has grown over the last few years with tons of updates, making it similar to a more grounded space-based Minecraft. The team has added things like a creative mode, which allows players to do as they wish with unlimited resources, as well as a survival mode which forces the player to survive in the harsh conditions of outer space as they desperately try to claim whatever they can to continue to live. Over time, the game has added more planets and even an economic system with NPC factions, trading, and much more.

The latest update to Space Engineers will allow players the ability to mod on both Xbox and PC. Fallout 4 was one of the first games to utilize mods on consoles but Space Engineers is one of the few to follow through on mod support for consoles. Xbox mods will be available both in solo and multiplayer lobbies with some limitations. If the lobby is hosted on Xbox, the mods don't need scripts. If they're on dedicated servers, mods with scripts will run but only if they don't require client-side scripts. PC users will also have an easier time accessing Mod.io as support has been added to all in-game screens accessing the workshop.

Finally, cross-play has been added. New servers have been added to allow both Steam and Xbox players to co-exist and do space engineering activities together. Players should be able to find these servers in the multiplayer menu of the game. Space Engineers joins the numerous other Xbox games that are blurring the lines of how people play multiplayer games.
