Parents are able to set up parental controls on their new Xbox Series X/S  according to their preferences. It's incredibly common for a family to be greeted with a new gaming console for the holiday season. While Microsoft continues to give players new Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S games, many of these titles are targeted at a more mature audience. Halo Infinite is one of the platform's biggest titles but it's rated 'T' for teens, likely preventing many younger audiences from purchasing it. Games like these are full of violence, gore and might not be suitable for every age. Fortunately, there are multiple ways to change the parental controls of the Xbox Series X/S.

This will allow parents to control a variety of different features on their child's console. First, players can download the Xbox Family Settings app which is available on the iOS App Store and Google Play Store. After downloading it, sign in to the Xbox/Microsoft account and select 'Add Family Member'. Here, parents can then create their child's account. It's important to mention that parents who create a child's account will need to enter an email and password for them.

After signing into the Xbox Family Settings app successfully, it's now possible to start adding age restrictions. Tap on the profile icon on the top right and enter the appropriate age of the child. The app will then suggest age-appropriate content restrictions. Parents can now control if they are able to communicate with other players online, friends only, or no one. It's also possible to block out online multiplayer enitrely.

Xbox Series X/S: How to Set Up Parental Controls

As an alternative option, there is a way to set parental settings directly from the console itself. To do this, press the Xbox symbol on the controller and scroll over to 'Profile and System'. Select 'settings' when the tab opens and head into 'account' and 'family settings'. It's possible for players to enable a passkey to prevent unauthorized purchases. There are three options to choose from.

The first is the 'No Barriers' option. With this, users can pretty much do anything they want without any restrictions. The second option works using the passkey, as it's required every time the player changes settings, purchases things, or before signing in. The last option is 'Lock It Down' where for every change, parents will need to authorize it directly. It's incredibly strict but protective at the same time. There are tons of different options included with the Xbox Series consoles and parents should choose the best options that fit the family's requirements.
