The load times for the Xbox Series X are no joke, and that proves doubly so for Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts, which loads so quickly that the jokes on the game's loading screens don't have time to appear. While this certainly cuts down the time players have to wait when venturing between areas, the Xbox Series X's blazing fast load times also cut down on some of the Banjo-Kazooie's humor.

Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts was released in 2008 for the Xbox 360, and like most games around that time it used its loading screens to inform players of the game's mechanics. Games like Skyrim and Fable, which were released that same year, would use their loading screens to explain the games' lore or tell of items players could obtain. Banjo-Kazooie decided to make these helpful tips more personable by allowing a robot named LOG to present them to the player. Each tip that LOG delivered would come with a humorous remark that made each load time a little less dull.

One of the features that Microsoft is seemingly most proud of is how quickly the Xbox Series X loads games. The system has multiple facets that show off its remarkable load times including its Quick Resume and Instant On functions. It also significantly improves the load times for backwards compatible games turning what use to be a 10-second load time into a less than a second. YouTuber Joshua MacDougall, FreakinClever on Twitter, posted a video of how quickly the Xbox Series X could load Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts, and to his dismay, it was so quick that LOG didn't have time to appear on screen.

Some may see this as praise for how fast the Xbox Series X can load older titles, but others could see this as a flaw in the overpowered console's design. Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts used its load screens to inform and entertain its viewers. While no one likes to sit through a minute-long loading screen, the 10 seconds that Banjo-Kazooie took to load into the next area was enough for players to grow their relationship with LOG before heading off to the next portion of their adventure. At least Rare responded stating that they would tweet all of LOG's loading screen dialogues in his honor.

Regardless of characters having their screen time cut due to the sheer power of the Xbox Series X, it does raise the question of how quickly other classic titles can load on next-gen consoles. Games like Psychonauts already load incredibly fast on the PS4 and Xbox One, and to have those loading screen disappear on next-gen consoles will feel phenomenal. However, there will always be a feeling of guilt when loading into Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts and knowing LOG won't be there to greet the player.
