Microsoft has announced that its giving away Dia de los Muertos-inspired livery for Forza Horizon 4 and the upcoming Forza Horizon 5 as well as a custom-designed Xbox One X console to honor the annual holiday. Dia de los Muertos, or the Day of the Dead, is an annual holiday that’s celebrated in Mexico and other parts of the world to remember, honor, and celebrate those who have passed. A number of games release special content to join in on the festivities of the annual holiday, including Apex Legends, whose Halloween event also features Dia de los Muertos-inspired cosmetic bundles and a sale which will run until November 1st.

Forza Horizon 5, the latest entry in the open world Forza Horizon series is set to come out next week on November 5, 2021 for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. The racing game promises a slew of new features including a brand-new and powerful weather system, as well as new multiplayer modes in the Horizon Arcade. Appropriately enough for the game's Dia de los Muertos celebrations, Forza Horizon 5 is set in Mexico, albeit a somewhat fictionalized version of the country. It will be the biggest map in the series so far and will include multiple location types and biomes including mountain areas, dunes, forest and jungle regions, and more.

Microsoft announced in a new blog post that it has partnered with actor Xolo Maridueña of Cobra Kai fame to design a custom Día de Muertos-inspired car livery for the 2020 Chevy Corvette Stingray in both Forza Horizon 4 and Forza Horizon 5. The special car will be available until the end of the year to everyone who has unlocked the first Player House in Forza Horizon 4 and will also be available in the sequel when it releases next week. Microsoft has also collaborated with three artists to create three custom-designed Xbox One X consoles that the company will be giving away through the official Xbox Twitter account.

The three artists, Sam Rodriguez, Juan Puente, and Axis, designed their own interpretations of Dia de los Muertos and shared the thought processes behind their pieces, along with their experience with gaming. Apart from being used for the latest custom Xbox One X consoles that Microsoft is giving away, two of three unique designs can also be obtained by Forza Horizon 4 players in-game as special t-shirts. Players can acquire them by purchasing them through the Forzathon shop with points that they can collect through completing challenges and events in-game.

The designs that the three aforementioned artists have come up with for the custom Xbox One X consoles that Microsoft is giving away look impressive and would look great in anyone’s collection. It’s also nice to see that in spite of the sequel’s impending release next week, along with a previous report that Forza Horizon 4 would receive fewer content updates, it has still been included in this latest collaboration by Microsoft. It’s also interesting that even though Forza Horizon 5 has yet to be released, there’s already time-limited content for players to obtain as soon as it launches.
