Microsoft has announced the Xbox Games with Gold titles for October 2021, revealing classic survival horror game Resident Evil Code: Veronica XResident Evil Code: Veronica X is widely regarded as one of the best non-numbered titles in the horror franchise, and its inclusion with Xbox Live Gold is set to introduce the story to a whole new audience.

Resident Evil Code: Veronica first released for the Sega Dreamcast in 2000, with the extended Resident Evil Code: Veronica X coming to both PlayStation 2 and Dreamcast in 2001. Due to initially releasing on the Dreamcast, the game was missed by many players, despite its positive reviews from critics and fans alike. An HD remaster was made for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2011, which is the version most accessible today. Xbox fans have been able to play the game on even the newest Xbox consoles, with the title available for purchase via the Microsoft Store and playable on Xbox Series X/S thanks to the consoles' backwards compatibility.

Along with Resident Evil Code: Veronica X, October's offerings include rhythm game, Aaero, and futuristic parkour release, Hover. The other Xbox 360 classic joining Code: Veronica X is none other than Castlevania: Harmony of Despair. • Aaero: Available October 1 to 31

Horror fans and Xbox Live Gold members won't want to miss adding Resident Evil Code: Veronica X to their library in time for Halloween. The game takes place just three months after Resident Evil 2 and 3, with the story following series hero Claire Redfield as she battles zombie hordes on a mission to save her brother, Chris. The game takes place at both a remote prison island and an Umbrella research facility, offering plenty of scares for players. The game is considered to be a must-play for Resident Evil fans, with lots of players still calling on Capcom to remake the game in a similar vein to the Resident Evil 2 and 3 remakes.

Xbox Live Gold members won't be the only ones able to download the four games next month, as the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription also includes access to Games with Gold. Xbox Live Gold is often criticized for its monthly Games with Gold offerings, with lots of fans believing the service is becoming less and less important to Xbox in contrast to the ever-changing Xbox Game Pass. The inclusion of one of the most adored Resident Evil games in the series might change players' minds when it becomes available through the service beginning October 16.
