Xbox has announced the free games players will get next month with Games With Gold. The Xbox Games With Gold program gives players access to new free games every month, and players who pay for Xbox Live Gold or Xbox Game Pass Ultimate have access to this program for no extra cost.
This service has been around since July of 2013 when the free games offered were Defense Grid: The Awakening and Assassin's Creed II. As Xbox has progressed there have been titles for the Xbox One, Xbox 360, and even the original Xbox offered to players. There have also been several big name titles offered to fans extending from Gears of War, Halo, and even the Saints Row franchise. Currently Xbox owners can download Styxx: Shards of Darkness, Batman: The Telltale Series, and Lego Star Wars 2.
Xbox recently announced that next month there will be two new Xbox One games for players to download. From February 1st to February 29th players can download TT Isle of Man. This racing game is based on the motorcycle race which takes place in the mountains of the Isle of Man. The legendary course has been faithfully recreated for the sake of this dangerous racing game. The other Xbox One title is Call of Cthulhu, and can be downloaded from February 16th to March 15th. This Lovecraftian-inspired video game is based on the pen-and-paper-RPG of the same name. In Call of Cthulhu, players must investigate a death while uncovering the mysteries surrounding the creepy town they find themselves in.
There will also be an Xbox 360 game and an original Xbox game players will be able to download. Fable Heroes for the Xbox 360 can be downloaded from February 1st to February 15th. Fable Heroes is set in the same universe as the popular Fable series of games, but instead of the usual RPG, this Fable title is a hack and slash adventure. Players can also grab a few friends and play with them either competitively or cooperatively. Finally, from February 16th to February 29th players can download the original Star Wars: Battlefront for the Xbox. Players can revisit the classic Star Wars title all over again as they choose to play as either the Rebel Alliance or the Empire in a series of both single-player and multiplayer skirmishes.
Games With Gold is an Xbox feature that has been a resounding success. In order to have access to it players only have to pay the price of one brand-new game for an entire year's subscription to Xbox Live Gold. Even if users don't use the membership to play games online, just one month of free games makes up for the membership, and this month's lineup makes Games With Gold more than worth the price of admission.
