Xbox Game Pass Ultimate users can now get a free two month's of Funimation Premium Plus as part of a perk system that Microsoft provides with the subscription. The news comes hot on the heels of the announcement that Bethesda titles like Doom Eternal will come to Xbox Game Pass following Microsoft's acquisition of the publisher last week.

Xbox Game Pass is often described as a sort of Netflix for video games and has become a central part of Microsoft's strategy for the future. The service is available on Xbox One consoles as well as PC and Android devices, where users can stream more than 150 games via xCloud. As well as Microsoft's own first-party catalog, it also has high-profile games from the likes of Rockstar, Capcom, and Square Enix, making it a great deal for those who want to try lots of different titles.

Xbox Game Pass Ultimate users will be rewarded with a new benefit over the course of the next month. As reported by Polygon, Microsoft is bundling a two-month subscription to Funimation Premium Plus with its own service. That means that anyone with a Game Pass Ultimate subscription can get access to the anime streaming service. This includes the entire library of content from Funimation, such as the likes of Naruto and My Hero Academia, which can be watched without any ads. To unlock the reward, players will have to go to the Game Pass Ultimate Perks section of their account on an Xbox One console or on the Xbox mobile app.

A Funimation Premium Plus subscription is not the only perk that players can get from Game Pass Ultimate. Users have been able to get access to free months of Discord Nitro for some time, while Microsoft also includes free DLC and other in-game items. Meanwhile, Microsoft has confirmed that EA Play will be joining Game Pass Ultimate from this holiday. That means that players will be able to play all of the titles in EA's own subscription service without having to pay separately.

Microsoft is betting big on Xbox Game Pass as the next generation of consoles arrives. It's obvious that the company wants to move to a more service-based model, and adding more value to a Game Pass Ultimate subscription with perks like free like this Funimation partnership makes lots of sense. After all, more players are likely to try out the service if they can get some extra benefits in addition to the wide array of video games already available.
