Microsoft’s subscription-based Xbox Game Pass is expanding its offerings by adding Celeste, Grim Fandango, Day of the Tentacle, and lots more. The service gets new titles frequently - once a month at a bare minimum, with some of the aforementioned titles having been announced earlier in October by Double Fine head Tim Schafer. The official Xbox Game Pass Twitter also hinted at the possibility of Rainbow Six Siege being added to the service by sending out a humorous tweet depicting a rainbow overlooking a medieval castle under siege.

Xbox Game Pass has also expanded from Xbox consoles to Android and PC, having launched out of its PC beta in September and increasing in price to $10 per month. Xbox Game Studios is also seeking to employ Game Pass with Project xCloud streaming on consoles and PC for Game Pass Ultimate subscribers. With Microsoft’s acquisition of The Elder Scrolls and Fallout developer Bethesda, it’s also possible future installments from the AAA studio will be added to Game Pass on launch day.

Game Pass has been one of two factors the Xbox brand has been promoting to reshape Xbox’s image since the marketing disaster that hurt the original Xbox One in 2013. Including Xbox Live Gold and xCloud streaming with Game Pass Ultimate could give Microsoft an edge over its competition with the launch of next-generation consoles. While Sony has a similar service in the form of PS Now, it doesn’t hold a candle to Game Pass in terms of game selection.

The second factor contributing to the Xbox’s brand’s revamp is Xbox Game Studios’ push for more first-party exclusives. Since Xbox head Phil Spencer announced a plethora of new studios joining Team Xbox at E3 2018 and 2019, Microsoft’s video game division has expanded its arsenal with the additions of Bethesda and Obsidian. These acquisitions will not only give Xbox Game Studios more first-party content but will also give fans more to access on Xbox Game Pass going forward.
