Developer Lince Works has showcased a much closer look at the stealth gameplay featured in Xbox Game Pass title Aragami 2. The Barcelona-based studio confirmed plans to launch Aragami 2 day-and-date on Game Pass during E3 2021's Xbox and Bethesda Games Showcase.

Lince Works unveiled the stealth sequel nearly a year ago, making it clear that the core brilliance of the original will remain intact. There does exist one major change, however; unlike its 2016 predecessor, Aragami 2 will boast cooperative gameplay options allowing up to three friends to join each other. Crew or not, the sequel will throw players into the role of Aragami warriors as they protect the Rashomon Valley from invading forces. Aragami's undead warriors have a personal mission this time as well, which revolves around finding a cure for the curse that continues to plague them.

The crew at Lince Works recently unveiled fresh gameplay footage of the Aragami follow-up. At three minutes long, the video briefly walks fans through some of the brand-new features. Thanks to additions like the double jump, for example, the undead assassin now has the power to navigate environments in a quicker, more responsive manner. And the debut of a "special stealth cover" system allows players to interact with stealth-specific prompts while hidden in tall grass, bushes, and other vision-obscuring hiding spots. Such an evolution of the previous system most notably opens the door for more contextual kills, according to details highlighted in the gameplay video linked below:

Lince Works' next Aragami entry takes place roughly 100 years after the ending of the original, which managed to move an impressive 700,000 units worldwide. Its day-and-date Xbox Game Pass release will put the inventive stealth experience within view of millions of others players, too.

Since great stealth titles have become a rarity in recent years, it's a pleasure to see that indie developers continue pushing the genre forward. Of course, heavy-hitters such as IO Interactive's Hitman managed to keep the flame alive, but, sadly, Agent 47's days of hiding in plain sight have come to end. And with staples like Splinter Cell, Metal Gear Solid, and Dishonored still on hiatus, this year's Aragami 2 release may be just what the doctor ordered for players who prefer to move in the shadows.
