Mike and Laura Allred's latest sci-fi extravaganza X-Ray Robot #1 is just over two weeks away from hitting the shelves at your local comic book store and we've got an exclusive preview of the reality-bending new series.

Mike Allred is a writer and artist best known for his series Madman, starring the ginchiest hero around, Frank Einstein. Allred has worked on a number of popular series include X-Force and X-Static with Peter Milligan, Silver Surfer (which he won an Eisner Award for) with Dan Slott, iZombie with Chris Robertson, and a slew of other colorful series' across a variety of different publishers. Most recently, Allred worked on the original graphic novel BOWIE: Stardust, Rayguns & Moonage Daydreams by Insight Comics. Eisner Award-winning colorist Laura Allred brings her husband's work to life with her gorgeous, bright colors. The two have proved time and time again they're a winning combination and X-Ray Robot #1 by Dark Horse Comics looks to continue that trend.

X-Ray Robot tells the story of a scientist named Max who participates in an experiment that doesn't go as planned and sends his mind across the waves of reality. The robot he experimented on joins him in his travel across the colorful fabric of reality, claiming that he's a 277-year-old version of Max from the future that can 'X-Ray' realities. As the two travel through time and reality, they'll have to stop a being known as "Nihilist" who wants to revert reality back to its very beginnings. The previews are classic Allred with plenty of SciFi goodness, colorful scenes, and trippy art. Allred is the master of turning trippy stories into colorful, zany adventures and X-Ray Robot #1 seems to be exactly that. Brian Michael Bendis spoke highly of the series, saying 'one of the best cartoonists in all of comics has done it again! X-Ray Robot is another Allred homerun!!''

  • Max is a family man seeking a more interesting life. While conducting a new experiment at work, the fabric of his reality is torn before his eyes, and a robotic figure appears, claiming to be his 277-year-old self. The robot is able to ''X-Ray'' multiple dimensions and battles a nihilistic entity from another dimension who wants to take all life to its ''Pre-Big Bang'' status.  Max and the robot embark on an interdimensional roadtrip through past and future to take down the ''Nihilist'' and save the universe!
