A24 debuts the new trailer for horror film X, which follows a group of adult film stars and crew terrorized by their elderly hosts. X is written and directed by Ti West, best known for horror films like The House of the Devil, The Innkeepers, and The Sacrament. X is also West's first feature since 2016's western, In a Valley of Violence. The cast of X includes Jenna Ortega, Kid Cudi, Brittany Snow, Mia Goth, and Martin Henderson as the cast and crew of an adult film.
The trailer, shared on YouTube by A24, sets up the film's plot set in 1979 Texas. As the crew of a pornographic movie sets out to film on an old farm, they are under the watchful eyes of their reclusive, elderly hosts. However, when the cast finds themselves caught in the act, things quickly become terrifying as they are plagued by bizarre occurrences that see them in a fight for their lives. The X trailer gives off a similar look and feel to Tobe Hooper's 1974 horror classic, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, with a group of young people being terrorized in rural Texas. Both A24 and West are known for crafting slow-burn tension that generally results in horrific finales, much like the endings of The House of the Devil or The Sacrament. With X, West looks to add another terrifying film to his resume, though the trailer could hint at a more intense experience than some of his previous work. Ti West's X is currently slated to hit theaters on March 18.
