[Warning! Potential SPOILERS!]
Fox has been ramping up the PR campaign around X-Men: Days of Future Past, its wildly ambitious, hugely expensive installment of its ongoing X-Men movie universe. Directed by Bryan Singer, who helmed the first two X-Men films and helped modernize the superhero blockbuster, DoFP features the cast of the three "present-day" X-movies alongside the younger cast of X-Men: First Class.
As we await the film's second full-length trailer - teased by two different previews - we can amuse ourselves by counting the sheer number of mutant characters. We've got at least 25 characters in the principle cast alone, but Fox and Singer may yet have some surprises in store.
We've already theorized that the fractured-timeline nature of the plot - set partially in a dystopian future where mutants are hunted down and exterminated by giant killer robots called Sentinels and partially in the post-First Class 1960s and 70s - could be utilized to trim the sheer number of characters in this universe, which keeps expanding.
Younger versions of Toad (Evan Jonigkeit) and William Stryker (John Helman) are joined by Blink (Bingbing Fan), Warpath (Booboo Stewart), Sunspot (Adan Canto) and Bishop (Omar Sy), and Evan Peters as Quicksilver. With all the new mutants to keep track of - along with nearly the entire cast of the original films and First Class, lest we forget - is there any room for a few more familiar faces?
According to a new report, there just may be. The news may contain some SPOILERS for Days of Future Past, so if you'd rather not know, turn back now.
