20th Century Fox's X-Men: Dark Phoenix may have finally found its Dazzler. The character had originally been rumored to make a cameo in X-Men: Apocalypse - with real life pop star, Taylor Swift, linked to the role - but Dazzler was nowhere to be found in the film's final cut. But with the next installment in the main X-Men saga set to take place in the 1990s and most of the Apocalypse cast confirmed to be returning, it has been revealed that Dazzler will appear in Dark Phoenix in some form or another, instead. What exactly her role in the film will be, remains a mystery for the time being.

There's been no word as of yet regarding who writer and director Simon Kinberg and the rest of the Dark Phoenix creative team may be eyeing for the role either - but with production on Dark Phoenix currently underway in Montreal, it seems like only a matter of time before some kind of official casting announcement is made. As it turns out, X-Men fans may finally know who's going to be playing the famous, fan-favorite mutant pop star in the movie.

Omega Underground is reporting that Halston Sage is currently being eyed for the role of Dazzler in the film. While the site claims that The Bad Batch star, Suki Waterhouse, had also been considered for the role, it's looking more and more like Sage may have actually landed it. This comes from both inside sources, and after several photos have linked Sage to the project. Not only was she was seen going to a Hans Zimmer concert with the rest of the Dark Phoenix cast in Montreal, but her headshot was also spotted on a board of cast members for the film, seen in a behind-the-scenes photo posted by one of the movie's stuntmen.

Dazzler from X-Men

As usual, make sure to take this all with a grain of salt for the time being, since no official confirmation or announcements have been made regarding Sage as the character. That said, Sage certainly has a resemblance to the character from the comics - who, for those who don't already know, is both a world-famous singer in the X-Men world as well as a mutant with the ability to turn sound into concussive light blasts. She's one of several new characters said to be making an appearance in the film, along with Jessica Chastain's Princess-Majestrix Lilandra Neramani and Kota Eberhardt's Luna.

This news comes in addition to reports that X-Men: Dark Phoenix will be conducting a portion of its filming in New York, though, there's no word on which segments of the film's story may be shot there, or if Sage's Dazzler will be involved in that. Sage is just coming off a San Diego Comic-Con appearance of her own, where she was part of the early promotion for Seth MacFarlane's upcoming sci-fi comedy series, The Orville. Similar to some of the other Dark Phoenix cast members, Sage has spent the last few years in particular, carving out a filmography for herself (see also her role in films like Paper Towns). So now, all that waits to be seen is if she will actually making her debut in Fox's X-Men cinematic universe as said fan-favorite character, when Dark Phoenix hits theaters next year.
