UPDATE: Read our thoughts on Dark Phoenix's redesign from X-Men: Apocalypse's costumes.

A sneak peek at some new figures to celebrate the release of X-Men: Dark Phoenix shows off the costumes of Beast, Phoenix and Cyclops, presumably as they will appear in the movie.

X-Men: Dark Phoenix brings Sophie Turner back into the role of Jean Grey. Set 10 years after events of the film X-Men: Apocalypse, the movie will explore Jean's darker side after she fully embraced the powers of Phoenix in the previous movie. The film will also probably delve into her childhood, considering the project cast a younger Jean Grey in Summer Fontana. Expect many of the other X-Men to show up, too, including Professor X (James McAvoy), Magneto (Michael Fassbender), Mystique (Jennifer Lawrence), Beast (Nicholas Hoult), Cyclops (Tye Sheridan), Nightcrawler (Kodi Smit-McPhee), Storm (Alexandra Shipp) and Quicksilver (Evan Peters).

YouTube user vasos de cine cinepolis y cinemex released a video showcasing new figures that will come with the release of the film. The figures depict the X-Men uniforms worn by Phoenix, Beast and Cyclops. The costumes are a throwback to the comics: simple black suits with a large yellow "X"-like mark that goes across the shoulders and chest. The title of this video translates to "X-Men Dark Phoenix Possible Cinemex figures." Cinemex is a chain of theaters in Mexico, so perhaps these are figures that will act as promotional items for the theater chain once the movie arrives.

Because Dark Phoenix doesn't release until 2019, though, there isn't a lot of information out there about it yet. Although the first X-Men: Dark Phoenix trailer screened at CineEurope earlier this year, Fox still has not yet released that trailer to the public. However, with the summer movie season in full swing now, it is highly likely that the trailer will hit theater screens soon.

What fans do know is that the tone of the film is darker than Apocalypse, considering its subject: the internal struggle of Jean Grey between herself and Phoenix. Jessica Chastain signed on, reportedly to play the villain Shi’ar, who wants to destroy Phoenix. Her motivation for that, though, is still unknown. In the comics, the Shi'ar were an alien species close to the Skrull and Kree empires. Rumors, though, report that the movie won't feature any kind of space stories or Krulls.

It's nice to finally see the X-Men uniforms, though, even on stationary figures that represent the characters. It's likely that more figures, as well as promotional items, will begin popping up soon in preparation for the premiere of X-Men: Dark Phoenix in 2019.
