Sophie Turner says she wants to join the MCU's Avengers. Set to star in X-Men: Dark Phoenix next February, the actress' younger incarnation of Jean Grey will be at the forefront as the film tackles her journey in becoming the Dark Phoenix as previously hinted towards the end of X-Men: Apocalypse. The project is Fox's second try at adapting Chris Claremont's The Dark Phoenix Saga after 2006's X-Men: The Last Stand failed attempt.

Marking the directorial debut of long-time X-Men producer Simon Kinberg, the film's specific narrative details have been tightly kept under wraps as it recently underwent through reshoots, mainly focusing on reworking the movie's final and costing an additional $10 million and will. This resulted in a three-month delay in its release from November 2018 to February 2019.

Speaking with Digital Spy, the Game of Thrones actress was asked if there's any other Marvel superhero she would like to meet given Disney's plans of taking over Fox, which would revert the rights to X-Men, Fantastic Four and all their tie-in characters to Marvel Studios. But while Turner sounded pretty set on who she wants Jean Grey to interact with, she added that she really just wants to be a member of the Avengers as well:

"Ooh, that's a good question. Which Marvel hero would I like to meet? Iron Man, probably, because he's so badass. Or… oh, God, I don't know. All of them. All would be pretty awesome. I don't know. There's so many.

Just all of the Avengers, basically. I just want to be another Avenger."

Rubbing elbows is certainly possible, considering the ongoing Disney and Fox merger, which is expected to officially go through sometime next year. That is, however, if Marvel Studios chooses to retain the existing X-Men continuity, which frankly is a little bit too convoluted on its own to infuse into the MCU's canon. Between the split timelines having two versions of almost every key character (except for Hugh Jackman's Wolverine), it would be very tricky to incorporate them Marvel Studios' own mythos. Nonetheless, considering the possible introduction of the multiverse, there's a chance that Feige and his team might be able to find a way to adapt the current roster of mutants along their respective narratives without messing up with their franchise's own lore.

Should Disney ultimately decide to scrap Fox's X-Men franchise and reboot the whole thing (maybe except for Ryan Reynolds' Deadpool),  then there's a good chance that Turner may find herself a member of the Avengers instead of being a mutant. There is a slew of precedence with regard to actors having played pivotal superhero characters in two different franchises. Chris Evans is perhaps the poster boy for this phenomenon - initially playing Johnny Strom aka. Human Torch in 2005's Fantastic Four only to find himself as one of the MCU's cornerstone heroes, Captain America, years later.
