X-Men: Apocalypse Star Olivia Munn Shares New Image of Psylocke

X-Men Apocalypse Olivia Munn New Image Psylocke

After the original X-Men trilogy that began in 2000 was concluded with X-Men: The Last Stand in 2007, 20th Century Fox reinvigorated the series with a new era of prequel movies starting with X-Men: First Class. Director Bryan Singer returned to the franchise with 2014's X-Men: Days of Future Past and helmed this summer's upcoming release X-Men: Apocalypse. The newest film in the series is said to be a conclusion of sorts to the trilogy that began with First Class, and it will introduce a whole host of new mutants.

Younger versions of X-Men favorites Jean Grey (Sophie Turner), Scott Summers (Tye Sheridan), Storm (Alexandra Shipp), and Nightcrawler (Kodi Smit-McPhee) are joining the cast along with the titular villain, En Sabah Nur a.k.a. Apocalypse (Oscar Isaac), who's also bringing with him his Four Horsemen. Amid Apocalypse's Horsemen are Angel/Archangel (Ben Hardy) and Psylocke (Olivia Munn). Now, Munn has shared a new photo of herself on the set of X-Men: Apocalypse.

Munn posted the photo on herself in costume as Psylocke on Instagram as one of her Top 5 memories of 2015. The actress describes Psylocke as "a telekinetic telepath who chooses to kill with a sword because she wants to do it up close and intimate." Since photos of Munn's incarnation of the X-men character were first revealed, it has been noted that Psylocke's costume is extremely close to that of the comic character's, and this new image again displays the similarities:

To say hello to 2016, I'm gonna say GOODBYE TO 2015 with my Top 5 Favorite Memories of 2015 (that I can think of)... #4 Getting to play #Psylocke in #xmenapocalypse. She's a telekinetic telepath who chooses to kill with a sword because she wants to do it up close and intimate and killing from afar just seems too easy and no fun.

In addition to the new characters in X-Men: Apocalypse, the film will see the return of Charles Xavier a.k.a Professor X (James McAvoy), Erik Lehnsherr a.k.a. Magneto (Michael Fassbender), Mystique (Jennifer Lawrence), Hank McCoy (Nicholas Hoult), Peter Maximoff a.k.a. Quicksilver (Evan Peters), Alex Summers a.k.a. Havok (Lucas Till), and Moira MacTaggert (Rose Byrne).

Last month, Fox debuted the first trailer for X-Men: Apocalypse, which only featured a closeup shot of Psylocke's face. Although we've seen photos of her full costume, that and her powers/skill with a sword were absent from the trailer, so we have yet to see Munn's version of Psylocke in action in X-Men: Apocalypse - though a tease may be shown in another trailer or TV spot once we get closer to the film's release date.

Still, with the costume so close to that of the comic book character's, it seems safe to say that Singer's take on Psylocke will stay as true to the comics as her costume. Additionally, as one of Apocalypse's Four Horsemen it may also be that she'll have a much larger role to play in the film than the trailer suggests - although, with so many characters set to appear in X-Men: Apocalypse, how much she'll actually appear remains to be seen.
