We all knew that David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson were returning to the roles that made them famous in the X-Files sequel, but until now everyone was unsure who would be joining them on the silver screen.
News has come from The Hollywood Reporter that Amanda Peet, Billy Connolly and rapper Xzibt will be co-starring in the, as yet untitled X-Files follow-up.
What's strange about this annoucement is the calibre of this supporting cast.
According to the trade paper; Peet and Xzibit will play a pair of F.B.I agents, while Connolly's role is unknown.
I'll be honest with you, I have no idea who Xzibit is, but after some google related research I have discovered that his real name is Alvin Nathaniel Joiner and he's got quite an extensive imdb filmography.
Peet is always good value (after my Matthew Perry post this week, all I need is some Bruce Willis news to complete my Whole Nine/Ten Yards cast round-up), while Billy Connolly is a comedy legend over here in the UK.
The interesting thing about the Hollywood Reporter's article is that they say the new film is a stand-alone film and not a sequel or continuation of 1998's X-Files.
I'll admit to being disappointed by the original X-Files when it was released and this news sounds like they're starting with a clean slate.
The film will be directed by X-Files creator Chris Carter
We will find out if the truth is still out there in July 2008.
I can't wait.
