Here's a quick recap of Wynonna Earp season 1. The life of legendary lawman Wyatt Earp has been immortalized in several movies, including My Darling Clementine, Tombstone and the aptly titled Wyatt Earp, starring Kevin Costner. The premise of SYFY's horror series Wynonna Earp has the lawman's great, great-granddaughter return to her hometown of Purgatory to blast away the various vampires and demons that inhabit it.

Melanie Scrofano (Ready Or Not) plays Wynonna Earp, who uses Wyatt's trusty Peacemaker pistol to take down Purgatory's demons. She's aided on her quest by several allies, including sister Waverly, agent Dolls and Wyatt's old best friend Doc Holliday, who is now a vampire. Wynonna Earp has run for four seasons thus far, with each series seeming to get crazier and crazier. The show isn't afraid to embrace its own silliness either, making it a lot of fun.

Wynonna Earp season 1 finds the titular gunslinger coming to town for her uncle's funeral but quickly finding she has to deal with The Revenants in Purgatory. These are the souls of the outlaws Wyatt killed with his Peacemaker, and she's inherited the curse of sending them back to Hell. She's also recruited to the Black Badge Division by government agent Dolls and she targets The Revenants who killed her older sister Willa, led by Bobo Del Rey.

Despite being best friends with Wyatt, Doc Holliday is Wynonna Earp's enemy when they first meet, but he later falls for her. They also team up to take down the Stone Witch (AKA Constance Clootie), who is the one who made Doc immortal. They stop her from resurrecting her evil sons and bury her up to her neck in salt - though that's not the last of her on the show. Wynonna later discovers Willa is alive and was brainwashed into forgetting her past. When she recovers her memory, Wynonna pasts the Peacemaker to her, since its the eldest child who inherits the curse.

It's all turns out to be a ruse though, with Willa really in league with Bobo. The Revenants can't leave the boundaries of the town in Wynonna Earp or they'll burn up, but Willa plans to walk Bobo out. Wynonna ends up having to kill both Willa and Bobo, and also a tentacle monster for good measure. Agent Dolls ends up being taken to a black site by the Black Badge for doing a poor job but Wynonna plans to save him - only for the season to end with Waverly trying to kill her.

Wynonna Earp season 1 was full of monster fights and dramatic twists, but later series almost make it look tame in comparison. Hopefully, season 4 will keep up the tradition.
