Raw 25th Anniversary Show Will Feature Classic WWE Stars

WWE is set to bring back a long list of classic stars for its big Raw 25th Anniversary show, including Steve Austin, Ric Flair, and more. Yep, WWE's flagship weekly TV program is about to turn 25, and it just wouldn't be right to celebrate such a momentous occasion without some of the past greats that helped establish Raw as the place to be for wrestling fans on Monday nights.

Raw debuted on USA on January 11, 1993, and has gone through more than one network, timeslot, and length since. It might be hard for younger WWE fans to imagine, but Raw wasn't always three hours long, and sometimes had to miss weeks in the early days due to an annual dog show. Raw also wasn't always the WWE's flagship program, with weekend airings of Superstars still often boasting more marquee match-ups when the now Monday night staple was still in its infancy.

Raw didn't really kick into the high gear it mostly resides at today until the Attitude Era of the late 1990s, which featured the likes of "Stone Cold" Steve Austin, The Rock, The Undertaker, Triple H, and Mick Foley. Fittingly, several of those names are now confirmed to appear on WWE's upcoming celebration of Raw's 25th Anniversary, which airs on Monday, January 22. While technically a little later than the actual anniversary, the episode will jointly emanate from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, and the Manhattan Center elsewhere in NYC. The latter venue was where Raw was broadcast from for most of the first few years.

Here's the full list of names currently confirmed to appear on Raw's 25th Anniversary show, as revealed by PW Insider. Representing the Attitude Era will be Steve Austin, Shawn Michaels, Triple H, The Undertaker, X-Pac, the New Age Outlaws, the APA, the Dudley Boyz, and The Godfather. Also present will be Attitude Era commentary team Jim Ross and Jerry "The King" Lawler. From the WCW side of the Monday Night War fence comes Ric Flair, Kevin Nash, and Scott Hall. More recent Raw stars in attendance will be current part-time talents John Cena and Brock Lesnar, The Bella Twins, and The Boogeyman.

In addition to all of the above names, famous non-wrestling managers and authority figures will be showing up too, including Eric Bischoff, Teddy Long, John Laurinaitis, and Brother Love. Bischoff hasn't appeared on WWE TV since 2007 - and has since worked for fellow wrestling company TNA - so that should be interesting. Rounding out the confirmed list are old school WWE legends the "Million Dollar Man" Ted Dibiase and Sgt. Slaughter. Keep in mind that the show is still nearly two weeks away, and even more past stars could be added between now and then.
