Kevin Owens has not wrestled a match on WWE television since September 30. Still, he's remained active on the house show circuit, primarily working against Theory or in a tag team with Johnny Gargano. Main Event was in Wisconsin over the weekend, and The Prize Fighter once again had a bout against Theory. Unfortunately, fans in attendance took to social media after the show, and several said that it appeared Kevin Owens injured himself during the fight.
Reddit user u/grey9802 wrote the following on r/SquaredCircle: "Kevin Owens planted his right foot & seemed to have hurt his knee in a match tonight against Austin Theory. The match wrapped up quickly & he limped on his way to the back with help from the referee." Several Twitter users also witnessed this. Fan @MattBlaustein gave the following account on the platform: "As the person who broke the Kevin Owens news, felt I should give a bit more information as to what happened at #WWEMadison: • dropped from a turnbuckle and jammed his knee • pounded the mat while clutching it and talking to a ref • WAS able to get to his feet and hit stunner."
Here's To Hoping Kevin Owens Is OK Ahead Of Survivor Series
WWE pumped the breaks on Kevin Owens' push because of how over Sami Zayn has gotten with The Bloodline. The plan was reportedly for KO and Zayn to enter into a program with one another, but Triple H wisely pulled that back as the former El Generico has been the best part of Raw and SmackDown lately. With Survivor Series looming, some fans hoped that Kevin Owens would join the team formed to take on The Bloodline. Sheamus, The Brawling Brutes, and Drew McIntyre need a fifth man for the five-on-five WarGames match. Owens made a lot of sense with his recent history with Roman Reigns and the long-standing relationship with Zayn, at least from a fantasy booking perspective.
Now it's unclear if he'll be able to wrestle at the November 26 premium live event. It's worth noting that neither WWE nor Owens has commented since November 12, when the presumed injury occurred. These are first-hand accounts of the house show in Wisconsin, and it's vital to remember that the 38-year-old could have just been dealing with a stinger or a minor tweak. Professional wrestlers, it's said, are never operating at 100 percent. Given the nature of the profession, that makes sense. Even the most basic of spots can go sideways sometimes. Last month's AEW World Championship match between Jon Moxley and Hangman Adam Page is an example of that. Here's to hoping that KO is OK and can return to action for WWE soon.
