Doug Bradley's Maynard Odets was a key character in Wrong Turn 5: Bloodlines, but what happened to him after the film? This 2012 prequel to the well-known slasher series follows a group of teens as they venture out to Fairlake, West Virginia for a Halloween-themed music festival. Unfortunately for them, three vicious cannibals, led by on-the-loose killer Maynard, are also embarking on a local murder spree at the same time.

Their thirst for blood only intensifies when Maynard is arrested following an altercation with the city-hailing teens, and "his boys" (he's the Hillickers' father) stop at nothing to break him out of custody and leave a slew of bodies in their wake. Not only is Maynard the patriarchal captain of his violent mini-squad, but he's also the stand-out villain of the movie. Right from the beginning of Wrong Turn 5, he's sadistic, self-serving, and seems devoid of any humanity at all. He also relishes the peril he's inflicting from both inside and outside his jail cell.

Bradley's memorable role may seem like a new addition to the franchise and, chronologically within the series, he is. What some fans may not have realized is his character had also been used in the first two entries. Played by Wayne Robson, he was credited as "Old Man" in the 2003 original and then as "Old Timer" in Wrong Turn 2: Dead End. He meets his demise in the latter film too, when he gets into a nasty scuffle with Dale Murphy (Henry Rollins). His final scene is fitting for both Maynard as a character and Wrong Turn as a franchise; before he can shoot Murphy, a stick of dynamite causes him to explode into a gory mess.

Bradley's version of Maynard was a great addition to the series, as his character truly encapsulates the darkness of many of its antagonists. Not only does he maim and kill without a second thought, but he also savors every bit of it. This is especially showcased with how he tortures Lita (Roxanne McKee) in the latter half. He toys with her mind, gouges out her eyes (even after she gives him what he wants), and aims to drive her to complete despair, right until the very last scene of this Wrong Turn movie.

He's the perfect patriarch for his violent, cannibalistic clan. After being a more minor figure in the first two entries, it's good to see Maynard's character fleshed out in more detail. His role in Wrong Turn 5 certainly adds extra layers to the movie's terror and with Bradley's portrayal in mind, fans can re-watch the first two movies with an in-depth knowledge of who Maynard Odets is and what depths he'll have no problem sinking to.
