The Wrong Turn franchise depends on its family of inbred, mutant cannibals to dispatch travelers in the West Virginia wilderness, but the backstory in Wrong Turn 2 brought a baby mutant into play: what happened to baby Three Toes?

Not all horror movie villains get extensive backgrounds or origin stories, but Wrong Turn 2: Dead End started to connect the dots between the first movie and the second, which released direct-to-video instead of theatrical, a direction the rest of the movies took as well. In making this change, the cannibal killers became more than just babbling, backwoods-dwelling killers with a penchant for resourceful traps and refined hunting skills. Although there was eventually a prequel with Wrong Turn 4: Bloody Beginnings and Wrong Turn 5: Bloodlines being a prequel to 2003's Wrong Turn, the sequel was ahead of the game by humanizing the villains enough to intrigue the audience, though they were certainly still monstrous.

One such character that managed to be a little more sympathetic than most is known as Baby Three Toes. Though still part of the same villainous clan, Three Toe joins the rank of other endeared mutant villains like young Victor Crowley in Hatchet and even Pumpkinhead's sequel. A baby or child's innocence doesn't always mean anything in horror movies, however, as was proven in Wrong Turn 3: Left For Dead.

What Happened To Baby Three Toes In Wrong Turn 3?

Wrong Turn 2 - Backwoods Cannibal Villian

Baby Three Toes was born to Ma and Pa - siblings - in Wrong Turn 2. Horribly disfigured from birth, Three Toes was born at their father's cabin. Though his parents both met horrible fates during the movie, he - and the only other surviving member of their clan, Three Finger - escaped. Three Finger has been a prominent member of the Wrong Turn franchise, and is the only mutant to appear in all six of the movies. In the first movie, he carried out the killings with his brothers Saw Tooth and One Eye. In Wrong Turn 2, other members of his family were introduced, including Three Toes' parents Ma and Pa, plus Brother and Sister. Saw Tooth and One Eye died at the end of Wrong Turn, and the second movie serves as a sequel.

In Wrong Turn 3: Left For Dead, he is the main villain. However, he is not alone. The third movie shows the clear passage of time by aging up Three Toes, who is now a boy. In the film, there are scenes that show Three Toes taking care of the mutant boy like a proud uncle, teaching him their ways by showing him how to set traps. However, a group of escaped convicts stumble upon one of Three Toes' traps and decide to attack the boy, comment on his toes and deformities, then behead him. After this, they placed his head on a pike and left him humiliated, even in death.

Three Finger came across his body and, enraged, sought out on a vengeance quest that led to a bloodbath that fueled the rest of the movie. While Three Toes was certainly a budding villain who would have likely grown up to be just another villain in the Wrong Turn franchise, his death was still tragic and showed that these killers are more than just heartless monsters: they are a family just trying to survive, which subverts many of the classic slasher stereotypes.
