Who’s in Wounds, and where have you seen them before? Directed by Babak Anvari, the Hulu thriller is based on Nathan Ballingrud’s 2015 novella The Visible Filth. The film's storyline revolves around a bizarre gnostic ritual.

Anvari is best known for helming the 2015 horror film Under the Shadow, which takes place in 1980s Tehran. For Wounds, the narrative is set in New Orleans, where a bartender experiences strange things after finding a customer’s phone. Along with directing, Anvari also wrote Wounds' screenplay.
