A popular fan theory explains that Transporter and Collateral are connected, and the writer of bother films, Stuart Beattie, has just confirmed the fan theory is true. It isn't often that creators confirm fan theories, and whether they're true or a complete work of fan fiction, creators can leave viewers speculating over the truth forever.

However, while there are tons of fun movie theories out there, some are just so ridiculous they aren't even worth considering, and Redditors have debated which are the worst fan theories they've ever heard. Between explaining Anakin and Padme's chemistry-less relationship, James Bond being a codename, and the Riddler being in the Dark Knight trilogy, these theories require a major suspension of disbelief.

Anakin Was Mind Controlling Padme

Anakin and Padme in Star Wars

Fans will often try to build theories that excuse franchises' worst moments and Star Wars has a countless number of these types of theories. A_Dog_Chasing_Cars refers to the one they hate the most, noting, "Anakin actually involuntarily mind-controlled Padme into loving him. That's why they have little chemistry. Trying to justify an awful movie romance by making it even worse."

There's absolutely no problem with fans making that their head-canon, as it does make the actors' chemistry-less deliveries more interesting. But it also doesn't explain why most other characters in the prequel trilogy lack any kind of charisma. And as Jedis can only control those who are weak-minded, it doesn't make much sense given that Padme was so strong-minded.

The Pixar Theory

The witch working on her woodcarving from Brave

The Pixar Theory is one of the most epic movie theories, as it connects every single Pixar film and claims that they all take place in the same universe, no matter how different the films are. Though it's an impressive feat connecting them, GodEmperorOfHell thinks the theory is so overrated, commenting, "At the beginning, it's really fun, but the farthest you go, the most accommodations and shoehorning you have to make. Boo being the Witch from Brave is just a stretch."

The Reddit user is referring to the part of the theory that explains Brave's witch is Boo, the cute little girl from Monsters Inc, as she traveled through time in search of Sully. The theory's creator came to that conclusion because a wooding carving of Sully can be found in the Witch's workshop. But sometimes an Easter egg is just an Easter egg.

James Bond Was A Codename

Sean Connery as James Bond on the phone in From Russia with Love

Crystalistwo takes issue with one of the more popular James Bond theories, which is that James Bond is just a codename that new agents adopt after the previous one retires. The Redditor argues, "It's just people looking for continuity in a 60-year-old franchise where there is none. EON doesn't give a s***, why should you?"

However, the idea that James Bond is just a codename that different agents share after one retires is a great theory just for the fact that it could lead to a crossover, which sees all the different James Bond actors sharing screen time. Given that MGM is struggling to piece together the next series of Bond films, it'd be great to see this come to life. What other 007 ideas would be more of a box office hit than Pierce Brosnan, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, and Daniel Craig all sharing stories?

Dewey Was A Secret Killer In Scream

Dewey Riley and Gale Weathers in Scream

Coldliketherockies thinks that one of the more popular Scream theories is a terrible one. As some fans think Dewey was the killer in Scream, the Redditor refutes, "Just doesn’t fit any of his behavior not just in that film but in future films. We see him alone in future sequels and in trouble, it doesn’t make sense for him to just give the audience the image he’s a good guy if he’s not."

The common theory is essentially the twist of the parody film Scary Movie. The movie sees Doofy, who is based on Dewey, revealing himself as the mastermind killer the whole time. Any theory that shares major details with a parody movie can't possibly be a good one.

Sandy Dies At The Beginning Of Grease

Sandy and The Pink Ladies looking upset in Grease

Up_to_no_good_74 doesn't subscribe to the idea of "Sandy dreaming the whole of the Grease storyline as she is dying from drowning."

Grease is such an optimistic musical that's full of positive energy, and it's all about how Sandy and Danny reunite after meeting during summer vacation. But one common theory is that in the scene at the beginning where Sandy and Danny are kissing on the beach, Sandy drowns.

The theory stems from the surreal ending where Sandy and Danny fly into the sky in a car, meaning that she's going to heaven and everything just happened was her imagination. It's an interesting theory, but it also ruins the magic of the whole film.

There Are Layers In The Matrix

Neo and Trinity shoot up a lobby in The Matrix

The Matrix is undoubtedly a breeding ground for movie theories, as the film is so philosophical and it dares to ask audience questions they have never been asked before. One of the more common theories is that the Matrix has layers and that Zion is actually a part of the Matrix too. It's a great theory that many still believe to be true, even three films later, as Neo using his powers in the real world could hint at it still being in a computer.

But One-Adhesiveness5434 complains that theorists make too many leaps in logic for it to any longer make sense, noting, "While there is some sci-fi mumbo jumbo explanation that comes from some external canon, it simply ignores the philosophical conclusion to Neo's character and how his powers manifesting in the real world represent the ending of his journey." Either way, that narrative would have been much more entertaining than what fans got in The Matrix Resurrections. But Matrix 5 could always be a response to the theory.

Marcellus's Soul Is In The Pulp Fiction Briefcase

Jules opening a briefcase as someone points a gun at him in Pulp Fiction.

The biggest question in Pulp Fiction is, "What's in Marcellus Wallace's briefcase?" Many have theorized that it's the diamonds in Reservoir Dogs, others think it's simply heroin, but some speculate the fantastical and believe it's Marcellus's soul.

Bodymaster hates the theory, commenting, "Some film critic probably said it once metaphorically, like as in the idea of 'selling one's soul' for material gain, and then people read that and took it as literal." The theory stemmed from the fact that Marcellus has a band-aid on the back of his neck, and in the Bible, that's where the devil takes people's souls. But it doesn't exactly make sense why some random person like Brett would have a man's soul.

Coleman Reese Is The Riddler In The Dark Knight

Coleman Reese in The Dark Knight

The most common The Dark Knight theories surround the Joker and how he got his scars. He tells people wildly different stories about how he got them, but fans have their own ideas. However, a less speculated over theory is one in which fans unanimously agree, which is that the Wayne Enterprise employee is the Riddler, and DMPunk has a major issue with it.

But if any Dark Knight theory has the most evidence, it's this one. He has a resemblance to the Edward Nygma in Batman: The Animated Series, and just like how E. Nygma soundless like "enigma," Mr. Reese certainly sounds like "mysteries." As writer-director Christopher Nolan is so detailed in his storytelling, this is exactly the kind of thing he would have thought about, but fans will never know the truth.

John Mason Is James Bond

John Mason gives a thumbs up in The Rock.

The Rock is a great standalone action movie that follows an FBI agent who stops a terrorist organization with the help of former SAS Captain John Mason (Sean Connery.) Fans of the movie have pointed out the astounding amount of similarities between Mason and James Bond, not just that they're both played by Connery, and concluded that Mason must be an older, grizzled version of 007.

While it's a fun theory, MrFluffyhead80 doesn't like it, and they're not alone, as producer Jerry Bruckheimer recently debunked it himself, explaining, "It was never discussed or even thought about." That might disappoint a lot of theorists, but it doesn't explain the copious amounts of parallels between the two characters.

Walt Invented Donnie In The Big Lebowski

Walt, Donnie, and Lebowski driving to In-N-Out Burger in The Big Lebowski

The Coen Brothers surely welcome fan theories, as most of their movies are full of ambiguous scenes and are left completely open-ended. But one fan theory explains that Donnie is simply an imaginary friend, being just a figment of Walt's imagination and that Walt created him as a way of dealing with his PTSD from the Vietnam War.

The argument is that only the Dude's bowling team has three teammates and that the Dude simply humors Walt. But this Reddit user ultimately thinks it's nonsense. The Redditor argues, "This is pretty easily disprovable though if you pay attention. Walter delivers most of the lines directed at Donnie but not all of them. Also, Jesus’ bowling team has three members as well."
