Simon Pegg reveals of the many of his and Edgar Wright's movie characters, the one he wants to reprise most is Gary King from The World's End. After working together on the short-lived comedy series Asylum, Wright and Pegg would reunite for the hit British sitcom Spaced, on which the latter was co-creating, co-writing and co-starring with Jessica Stevenson and on which the former would direct all 14 episodes. Thanks to the show's success, the duo would bring their talents to the big screen alongside friend and frequent collaborator Nick Frost for the zombie romantic comedy spoof Shaun of the Dead.

The film would go on to receive critical acclaim and was a financial hit, leading Pegg and Wright to plan out a trilogy of comedies tied together solely by their style and the inclusion of the British ice cream Cornetto. The Three Flavors Cornetto Trilogy would first continue with the buddy cop action comedy Hot Fuzz, which received similar critical and commercial success thanks to its lampooning of its respective subgenres. The trilogy would close out in 2013 with the sci-fi action comedy The World's End and though the trio have largely moved away from each other to work on their own respective projects, many are still calling for Wright, Pegg and Frost to come back together.

While speaking with Slashfilm for his upcoming role in The Ice Age Adventures of Buck Wild, Simon Pegg reflected on his career of iconic characters. When asked which he most wants to revisit, Pegg said he wants to play Gary King of Edgar Wright's The World's End again, but says it's unlikely due to his and Wright's disinterest in sequels to their own works. See what Pegg said below:

"I'd love to play Gary King again from 'The World's End' because I really, really loved playing that character. And Edgar and I tend not to dwell on the past. We don't sort of do sequels to our movies because we just always want to just keep things moving, do different things. And people always ask us about sequels, and we always say no. And I think that will always be the case, but in an imaginary kind of scenario where we did do a sequel, I would definitely do a kind of post-apocalyptic World's End sequel with Gary off in the wilderness with his blank friends fighting."

Simon Pegg as Gary King in The World's End

Though not poorly received by any means, The World's End did prove to be something of a disappointment for many audiences when compared to the previous installments in the Three Flavors Cornetto Trilogy. Where the first two films saw high 93 and 89 percent approval ratings from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes, The World's End would close out the trilogy with a 71 percent, with many viewers citing diminishing returns and a disappointing ending as their biggest issues with the title. Regardless of their overall mixed feelings, many have cited Pegg's Gary King as one of his better characters from the trilogy.

While some may be eager for any kind of follow-up to the Three Flavors Cornetto Trilogy, namely Shaun of the Dead, Pegg's confirmation that he and Wright have no interest in doing so will come as disappointing to some. However, with Pegg stating his interest to return to any of his and Wright's characters as the ones he wants to reprise the most, it should create some hope the duo will reunite sometime in the near future. The World's End is set to celebrate its 10-year anniversary next summer and can be streamed on Cinemax Go now.
