Fans of World of Warships can now enjoy the game in a real-life warship thanks to developer Wargaming and the HMS Belfast. As some gamers call for more WW1 games, this could be the next best thing. Fans of World of Warships probably never expected such a partnership to come to fruition, but the collaboration will provide an incredibly immersive experience for those lucky enough to try playing the game on board the warship.

World of Warships is a free-to-play combat game that sees players onboard one of over 350 historic warships in an MMO experience. The game features a balance of real-time combat and strategy, with PvP, PvE, and Ranked Battles to take part in. The title is a must-play for fans of historical wars, giving them the chance to command World War One and Two warships including the Bismarck and Yamato. World of Warships is one of many games in the Wargaming catalog, which also includes titles such as World of Warplanes and the recently-updated World of Tanks.

Gamers can now experience World of Warships aboard the decommissioned Royal Navy warship due to a collaboration between Wargaming and the Imperial War Museum. As spotted by PCGamer, the new "World of Warships Command Centre" has opened within the HMS Belfast, giving players the opportunity to dive into the game on one of a series of PCs and consoles. Fans of the game won't want to miss this opportunity to command virtual warships from the depths of a real-life warship, especially as the HMS Belfast is even available to command within the game itself.

World of Warships Playable Inside Actual Real-Life Warship

While it's not exactly a video game museum, the partnership will provide one of the most immersive and exciting ways to experience World of Warships. The game has millions of players worldwide, and while the HMS Belfast isn't accessible for all of its players due to its location, it should make for a very unique experience for everyone who is able to take part, whether they're familiar with or new to the title. Victor Kislyi, CEO of Wargaming, said:

"Over the past year we have been privileged to work with naval museums across the world and support them during an immensely difficult time. We are delighted to be able to add a new dimension to the already incredible offering onboard HMS Belfast, and can’t wait to see this historic warship ship delight and educate visitors once more!"

The real-life Second World War Royal Navy warship, HMS Belfast, has had a long history at sea before its adventure into video games. The ship first launched in 1938, serving in historical events including D-Day, the Cold War, and the Korean War, to name but a few. Now a museum ship following its 1963 commission, the HMS Belfast is moored at the River Thames in London, and is open for tourists to explore. The ship offers various events and exhibitions, including private tours, family activities, and even online tours. World of Warships fans in the UK will want to check this one out. HMS Belfast opens to the public following its pandemic-related closure and can be visited from July 8.
