With a new week comes new weekly missions in World of Warships, and included in this week's rewards is the commander Leroy Jenkins. Jenkins, not to be confused with the iconic meme from the World of Warcraft community, served on the USS Kidd during the Korean War as a lookout on bridge watch and an armed guard. 43 years after the war, Leroy Jenkins returned to the ship as the curator of the Navy ship museum where it's kept, proudly serving for the last 14 years.

Now, on the 78th anniversary of the USS Kidd's commissioning date, World of Warships (one of Wargaming titles created after the success of World of Tanks) is featuring its commander Leroy Jenkins as an in-game unlockable. Players who wish to unlock the commander for the USS Kidd will have to complete one of two mission chains, awarding either a 6 or 10 skill point variant depending on which missions they complete. The event starts on Friday, April 23, and lasts until Monday, May 3, giving players 10 days to unlock the special commander.

In a press release for the announcement, World of Warships’ Regional Publishing Director Artur Plociennik stated, “When we met Mr. Jenkins and learned more about his service and his dedication to the USS Kidd, we wanted to celebrate and share those strong values with our community, so we decided to add him as a new commander in the game.” Alongside this event, players will also be able to get their hands on the X Vampire II ship, which is making its way to the game on April 22 at 10:00 PM PT.
