The new expansion for World of Warcraft: Dragonflight is here, and like all the professions, Herbalism has been reworked from previous expansions. In past expansions, players grinding Herbalism would just need to know the best route for efficient herb farming, but in Dragonflight the professions have been revamped to make the whole process more involved. Now, properly using these new changes are just as important as a good farming route.

The first thing to address is how Herbalism has changed. Like all the revamped Professions in Dragonflight, Herbalism now has three skills, Deftness, Finesse, and Perception, and three Specializations, Bountiful Harvests, Botany, and Mastering the Elements. Every 3 points in Deftness increases harvest speed by 1%, every 10 points in Finesse increases the yield from a herbalism node by 1%, and every 10 points in Perception increases the chance of rare herbs by 1%. The player should try to maximize all three of these skills, using the Specializations, to efficiently cover their harvest routes.

According to Wowhead, players can start unlocking and improving Specializations once their Herbalism hits level 25, using the new Knowledge Point currency. If the player can get enough points with Dragonflight's server and connection issues, they'll want to put it all into the 40 points of Botany, the core trait of the Botany Specialization. This gives a total of 40 Finesse, 15 Deftness, 15 Perception while herb gathering, and lets the player stay mounted while gathering herbs.

At this point, the player should have enough Herbalism to unlock a second specialization. For the purposes of this build, maximizing all three skills, the player should go for Bountiful Harvests. Get 40 points in the core Bountiful Harvests trait, and then put the remaining 35 points into Arboriculture (the 40-point capstone isn't that useful). This will give another 40 Herbalism Skill, 10 Deftness, 20 Finesse, 45 Perception, and allow the player to refine higher quality herbs.

Best Herbalism Route in World of Warcraft: Dragonflight

Now that the build's been maxed out, there's the gathering route. The Devastator build for the new Dracthyr Evoker is the best race/class build for this, thanks to the 2% Perception bonus and the Soar skill increasing flight speed. Herb nodes usually respawn every 10-15 minutes, but this can vary, and they don't have set locations. The best routes of previous expansions should still be roughly the same, but the best ones for the Dragon Isles, the new area introduced in Dragonflight, are still being found. So far, it seems the route in The Waking Shores shown in the above image is the best.

If the player is having trouble or frustration with this route, they can try different gathering routes, or take a break with one of the game's other features, like getting the pet Chip in World of Warcraft: Dragonflight.
