In a new trailer, the release date for World of Warcraft's next expansion, Dragonflight, has been revealed. WoW, which has been a staple of the MMORPG genre ever since its launch in 2004, has been through the release of eight major expansions, with the most recent, Shadowlands, having been released in 2020. The Dragonflight expansion will have players journeying with the dragonflight of Azeroth to the Dragon Isles, and will include new areas, enemies, and modifications to the pre-existing game.

Dragonflight, which was announced in April 2022, will be adding several new features to the game, including a change to make leveling World of Warcraft alts easier, as well as a new playable race, alterations to UI, and dragon riding. Along with these features, the expansion will also add a new class, the Evoker, which will be exclusive to the new Dracthyr race. This race will function as a healer or damage dealer. Additionally, the expansion will include a visual revamp for Azeroth, which will update the game's visuals in some areas to better reflect the title's current visual style.

In a new trailer on the World of Warcraft YouTube channel, Dragonflight has revealed its planned release date of November 28, 2022. The trailer, which features several shots of new and revamped areas from the expansion, also shows players making use of the new dragon riding feature, as well as a few short shots of the new Dracthyr race and its exclusive Evoker class. The trailer ends with a call to pre-order WoW: Dragonflight, which features collector's edition bonuses.

A New Trailer Reveals The Release Date Of World of Warcraft's Next Expansion

With many of Dragonflight's features and areas having already received full or partial reveals, many players will likely be looking forward to the expansion's launch in late November. While WoW's popularity may have declined somewhat from its very height, estimates still show it sporting a player base comfortably in the millions, which is no small feat for a game that has been running since 2004. The reveal of Dragonflight's release date may remind some players of the last expansion, Shadowlands, and its delayed release, but there are no indicators so far that Dragonflight will suffer from the same problems.

WoW, while still maintaining a large player base, has seen something of a decline in recent years, as well as the rise of significant competitors, like the immensely popular Final Fantasy XIV. While WoW is far from being in dire straits, the new features coming in World of Warcraft: Dragonflight could represent a chance for WoW to reclaim a bit of its former glory. Whatever the case, many of World of Warcraft's fans will likely be awaiting the launch of the Dragonflight expansion on November 28, 2022.
