A whopping 42 new mounts were introduced with the World of Warcraft: Dragonflight expansion and many of them are incredible in their design. Some of these were created specifically for the Dragonriding ability and are unique for the new physics-based game mechanic. However, the other mounts are just as impressive and desirable in their own right.
Obviously, because of the focus on the Dragonriding skill in Dragonflight, there are several recently added mounts which are dragon mounts that utilize the new skill and have numerous customization options available for them. These dragons seem to steal the spotlight with this expansion, yet there are so many more mounts from the standard mechanic with creative styles. Whether players enjoy collecting all the mounts in the game, or are simply seeking out the coolest available, these clever mounts won't disappoint.
World Of Warcraft: Dragonflight Features New Mounts Ranging From Cute To Fearsome
Out of the 42 new mounts introduced in Dragonflight, 37 of those are not specific to the Dragonriding ability but instead use the original standard form of flying or travel. These mounts can be obtained through a variety of means: some require battling difficult raid bosses and hoping to get lucky with a rare drop, while others can simply be purchased after increasing renown with one of Dragonflight's four factions in the Dragon Isles. A few of the best even require following secret questlines in order to achieve.
Dragonflight's Spookily Cute Otterworldly Ottuk Carrier
This spectral flying Ottuk mount is adorable despite being a ghost. How it carries the player is still a mystery, however, it seems to do so happily and without letting any character fall through it. It is also a fairly easy mount to obtain for collectors, with it simply being a reward for the Horde and Alliance achievement of "Thanks For The Carry!", achieved by collecting 500 mounts on any one character. Once unlocked, the Otterworldly Ottuk Carrier can be used on all WoW characters on the player account.
Reins Of The Liberated Slyvern Is A Dragonflight Special Drop
The Liberated Slyvern may be happy to be freed, but it still looks plenty angry. Unfortunately, it has a low chance of dropping as loot from the rare elite enemy Breezebiter in The Azure Span, making it a rare mount in World of Warcraft. Breezebiter is riding this Slyvern mount when he spawns in the world and can fly high up in a circle using this mount, almost as if taunting characters. For a matching set, players could also consider catching a Black Slyvern Pup battle pet from the Ohn'ahran Plains.
Lizi's Reins Requires Five Days Of Special Dragonflight Quests
Lizi, the Thunderspine Tramper, is said to be seeking all the fruit in Azeroth. This cutie is obtained as a reward for completing five days of quests, which don't have to be consecutive, for Initiate Radiya in Ohn'iri Springs. The questline begins with "To Tame A Thunderspine", but it is not unlocked until the player reaches Rank 9 renown with the Maruuk Centaur.
WoW's Loyal Magmammoth Is A Hot Ride, But A Challenge To Get
The Loyal Magmammoth is quite an ordeal to obtain and stumped mount collectors for quite a while after Dragonflight was released. Reaching maximum reputation with both Sabellian and Wrathion of the Black Dragonflight is required to purchase the Netherforged Lavaproof Boots and Sturdy Obsidian Glasses. Trading those two items to Yries Lightfingers will allow the purchase of the Magmammoth Harness. Using the Magmammoth Harness, the player must find a rare Tame Magmammoth, steal it, and while riding it there is a chance to successfully use the Magmammoth Harness on it, permanently adding it as the Loyal Magmammoth to the player's collection.
Shellack Slithers Through Dragonflight With A Lava Trail
Bringing new meaning to the term "heated seats" this red magma snail requires a character to complete a lot of dungeons. Shellack is the reward of the dungeon meta achievement "Glory of the Dragonflight Hero" which requires specific boss achievements to be completed from Dragonflight's dungeons. To make things even more difficult, these achievements are all required to be completed in the Mythic difficulty.
Fans Of World Of Warcraft's Fishing Will Appreciate Otto
Once a player raises their WoW: Dragonflight renown levels with the Iskaara Tuskarr, they can begin the quest "The Way to an Otto's Heart", which features Otto as its final reward. Otto, the blue otter who can wear sunglasses, is earned after a lot of fishing, but also working through the questline provides players with the Aquatic Shades Toy. Once Otto is unlocked, anytime the player uses the Aquatic Shades Toy to put sunglasses on their character, Otto will also sport a matching set, making him easily the coolest Ottuk around.
WoW's Dragonscale Expedition Apparently Lost Their Verdant Skitterfly
In order to collect the Verdant Skitterfly, players first have to reach Renown 25 with the Dragonscale Expedition. Then, there is a small chance to find this mount inside one of the Expedition Scout's Pack items which can be found hidden around the Dragon Isles. Just don't think too hard about why a mount is inside a lost backpack in the wilderness.
Collecting the best mounts in World of Warcraft is fun and can give a sense of accomplishment when players are able to show off rare mounts to others. These new ones which have been added in WoW: Dragonflight are sometimes difficult to get, but in the end are even more special for that reason. Plus, who doesn't want a blue otter wearing sunglasses?
