The next major content expansion for World of Warcraft: Shadowlands, the ominously named Chains of Domination, finally has a release date. After a long seven months since the expansion first launched, players, are going to be getting the first major content release in the form of patch 9.1 on June 29.

Released back in November of 2020, Shadowlands was the eighth expansion to the MMORPG World of Warcraft. This expansion added a whole new realm into the game, the Shadowlands: where souls go after they die in Azeroth. Five new zones were added, with four of them each representing a new group for players to align with and earn new character customization options. Each of these zones brought new dungeons and raids for players to grind exclusive loot through completing runs, and a new roguelike dungeon was also added, with Torghast Tower of the Damned allowing for both solo and group runs. Chains of Domination is expected to add a new raid into World of Warcraft, adding to the game’s enormous list of gameplay options.

In a brand-new trailer, Blizzard has finally revealed the release date for when Chains of Domination will be rolled out for Shadowlands players as June 29, 2021. This trailer follows the preview shown at Blizzcon earlier this year, where Lady Sylvanas Windrunner was revealed to be the big boss of the new raid being added to the game. This makes sense, as she is responsible for opening up a crack in the sky and breaking the barrier between Azeroth and the afterlife. She also has taken the lead of the Alliance hostage, King Anduin. In the latest WoW: Shadowlands trailer, it seems that she has managed to corrupt the boy king, which is bad news for Alliance players.

Along with a new raid, a whole new zone is being rolled out as well. The City of Secrets, Korthia will be released as a part of the new Shadowlands update. A new 8-boss mega-dungeon called Tazavesh, the Veiled Market, will be made available for players as well, along with some more covenant campaign contents. Each of the four covenants will have more story chapters to complete, along with the renown rank cap being raised to level 40. Those who complete the necessary requirements in Shadowlands will also unlock the ability to fly in these areas following World of Warcraft's patch 9.1.

This new raid will be unlocked slowly, as Blizzard needs to slow down the more eager players from rushing through any new content. The first wing of the Sanctum of Domination will go live on July 13, with it being available through the Raid Finder function for those without an active guild.
