Rumors are circulating about a World War Hulk movie at Marvel Studios, and footage from She-Hulk: Attorney at Law teases the foundations are already being laid. The Hulk, a.k.a. Bruce Banner, has had a large part to play in multiple MCU films, yet the character hasn't had a solo project since The Incredible Hulk in 2008. However, rumor has it that the film rights to the Hulk will be reverting to Marvel Studios from Universal Pictures in 2023, meaning the opportunity is there for another Hulk solo project soon.

In the meantime, Bruce Banner's next MCU stint is She-Hulk, appearing as the cousin of the show's title character, a.k.a. Jennifer Walters, and so far, trailers and other promotional materials have suggested that he will have a big part to play in the upcoming Disney+ release. Bruce Banner and the Hulk's most substantial roles in the MCU to date, aside from their single solo movie, have been in the first four Avengers films and Thor: Ragnarok. The latter saw Bruce stuck in Hulk form and trapped on the planet Sakaar for two years after the events of Avengers: Age of Ultron. Not much has been revealed about the Hulk's story on Sakaar before Ragnarok, other than the gladiatorial fights shown in the Thor sequel, but one snippet from an upcoming episode of She-Hulk might point to a more personal connection from his time on the planet.

In a clip released from She-Hulk: Attorney at Law titled "Car Crash," presumably taken from episode 1 of the show, Jennifer (Tatiana Maslany) and Bruce (Mark Ruffalo) joke about Steve Rogers/Captain America's sexual status before they are interrupted by what appears to be a Sakaarian spaceship. This obstruction causes them to crash their car, which results in Jennifer taking in some of Bruce's irradiated blood. The appearance of a Sakaarian ship in the She-Hulk clip has led many to speculate that Marvel is starting to sew the seeds of a World War Hulk event in the MCU.

How Are The Foundations Being Laid For World War Hulk?

She-Hulk Sakaarian Ship Skaar World War Hulk

One theory suggests the Hulk's son, Skaar, is the pilot of the Sakaarian ship in She-Hulk. Skaar debuted in World War Hulk, a 2007 comic series that saw the Hulk return to Earth from banishment on Sakaar and take his revenge on the superhero teams that exiled him there. While Skaar isn't a big part of this storyline in the comics, it's possible Marvel has reworked the narrative to fit with the current MCU, and it's Skaar's introduction that kick-starts the World War Hulk event instead.

The World War Hulk comics heavily involve the Illuminati, and that super-powered team just made their MCU debut in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, albeit on Earth-838. This creates the potential for the Illuminati to exist on the MCU's Earth-616, and with the introduction of mutants into the MCU and a Fantastic Four movie coming in 2024, all the key players in the World War Hulk event will finally be part of the same franchise. Viewers have been yearning for another epic MCU crossover akin to Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, and since Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars won't be out until 2025, a World War Hulk movie would provide the perfect opportunity to see a multitude of characters interact together, and this could all be starting with one scene in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law.
