The beloved web-based puzzle game Wordle has been transformed into a physical board game by toy manufacturer Hasbro. The popular word game, developed by Josh Wardle and owned by The New York Times, challenges players to find a five-letter word through trial and error. A LEGO Wordle set was recently proposed by a fan, but now Hasbro has turned the online game into a real physical board game.

Published online in January 2021, Wordle challenges players with using trial and error to find a five-letter word within six guesses. Every incorrect answer reveals which letters belong in the actual solution, and whether they are in the correct position or not, gradually narrowing down the final word. Wordle gives players a new five-letter word to find each day, and every player in the world is given the exact same solution. This adds a social element to the web-based word game, letting gamers share their victories or defeats after playing. The game's success has spawned many Wordle clones like the multiplayer WeWordle, which lets two players compete to find the solution first.

Hasbro recently announced Wordle: The Party Game, a board game that will let fans play the notorious word puzzle game with friends. The physical version of the game makes one player, the Wordle Host, write down a secret word for the group to guess. Guessing works exactly like the online version of Wordle, with the Host marking correct letters. Dry-erase boards and markers let players use the board game over and over, and Wordle: The Party Game even includes different ways to play like a timed mode or cooperative team play. The word puzzle board game will launch in October, and it is available for pre-order today.

Wordle took the puzzle world by storm when it launched last year, but a new crossword puzzle game called Knotwords may challenge the web-based title's supremacy. The game is a mix between a crossword puzzle and sudoku, with players filling in blank boxes using a group of letters. Knotwords also provides a new puzzle daily, like Wordle, but players can also purchase a premium version that contains a huge selection of addition challenges. Knotwords focuses more on speed, too, with a timer motivating players to fill out the entire crossword as quickly as possible.

The daily Wordle puzzle has become a part of many peoples' daily routines, and now the experience can be shared with a whole group. Wordle: The Party Game lets one player serve as a moderator while the rest play a physical version of the word puzzle using dry-erase boards, markers and plastic squares. The Hasbro board game is simple but effective, letting an entire group engage in some mind-bending Wordle fun together.
