Another Wordle clone has appeared, this time themed after the vast world of Marvel comics called Marvle. The New York Times-owned viral sensation has taken the casual gaming world by storm over the past few months, although the popular publication has made some controversial decisions recently such as ordering the closure of a Worlde archive.

Despite this change in ownership, Wordle continues to inspire a massive number of creative spin-offs. These spin-offs have been cropping up constantly, with tones ranging from educational to humorous and absurd. There was Worldle, a geography-based version of the game, Squabble, which positioned itself as Wordle with a battle royale twist, and Quordle, which took the base concept of Wordle and multiplied it by four. More recently, Survivle was released, inverting the Wordle formula by having players avoid guessing the correct word rather than striving for it. Just like the game that inspired them, just about all of these spin-offs are free-to-play, which helps them reach a broader audience. There's even a version of Wordle available on the Switch that is free for certain players.

Marvle is the latest release on the wackier side of the Wordle world, however. The core formula of the game is the same: players have six chances to guess a mystery five-letter word, and each guess (ideally) sheds more light on what this mystery word is. The difference with Marvle, as its name suggests, is that the mystery word is always related in some way to the Marvel universe, making it a solid choice for diehard fans of the iconic comic books, films, TV shows, or video games.

Whether this more narrow focus makes Marvle easier or more challenging is difficult to determine. On the one hand, having a smaller pool of words to guess from could make guessing words more straightforward in a manner similar to Spellie, which is a children's version of Wordle. Alternatively, though, the more esoteric and particular nature of this more specific word pool could make the game much harder for those unfamiliar with the broader Marvel universe.

Regardless of the difficulty, this take on the Wordle formula is sure to be of interest to both fans of the original and fans of Marvel content. Viral games tend to inspire copycats, but Wordle seems to be uniquely suited for a wide array of different approaches and themes. This Marvel version of the game might even wind up inspiring more Wordle spin-offs in the future.
